I want to pursue this goal as a first step to being more active. I’d like to be healthy, and I’d like to be a little slimmer. I figure, at the very least, I should be able to take a walk everyday.

I’d like to wake up early and take a walk everymorning, not only for weight loss but for peace of mind.



woke up early 8 months ago

with a crick in my neck, dressed, made tea.

put my shoes on, went outside and walked around. marking my first pre-work morning walk.

as a side bonus discovered two coffee places that are open earlier than I thought they’d be.

Why this is now a goal for me... 9 months ago

I need motivation. I can only get my walking done if I get in the car and drive to the community center, climb the two stair cases and use the treadmills. Having anxiety about leaving my home stops me from doing so. I know it is irrational but, it stops me non the less. I feel that I’d be putting myself in the towns main display case for all to see and laugh at my awkward way of walking. Where does the fear come from? I’m not sure but I think it goes way back to a time that my Mom brought us kids to the circus and my sister pointed at a clown who was doing their short pants penguin walk, she laughed so hard then turned to me and said “That’s just like the way YOU walk.” I was devastated. I am shaky even writing about it now.



A new goal... 11 months ago

I’d like to walk everyday for a number of reasons. Not only does it feel really great to get out and take a break from the house sometimes, but I also love the way walking inspires me to see the little things along the road that I might otherwise miss.

I’ve been taking my camera out with me to see if I can get some good shots. Maybe this goal and the goal to take a photo everyday will play off of each other.

I started walking yesterday 14 months ago

I started walking (again) yesterday. I walked for one hour. I took a few rounds around the apartment once I reached back home and then i went back home to cook dinner for my husband. I need to go out today evening for some shopping and to my tailor, but still i dont want to miss the walk.

I love walking, but I haven’t been doing it. I miss the neighborhood I grew up in. My street is too busy. I’m too busy.

I know, I should pack the shoes and schedule the time daily to Just Do It!

Inspired by Drs. Roizen and Oz. I need a half hour daily prescription.

Dear self- 5 minutes a day at least. C’mon, you can do this. Then up it to 10, then 15, then 30. Slacker.
