How to be an artist"I'm still learning from everyone every single day."
How I did it: I say it took 1 day but actually I'm still learning every single day. Lessons & tips: Don't listen to other people, don't let other people "improve" you or change your style. Your style is your artistic song and it's yours alone. If someone things your art is crap because you don't paint like a photograph - tell 'em to go get a camera - this is YOUR vision or YOUR tale that YOU'RE telling in your own form of art. Also experiment and play. If you're told you can't mix acrylic paint and watercolor paint in a single painting - make it your mission to find out why. How I did it: I was a little more responsible with my time than usual and just went to the trenches with the idea that as creative and passionate a guy as I am that this was something I had to do lest the day should come when I breathe my last and regret not having explored the limits of my ability. So, yeah, I got motivated! Then I gathered my tools which had been collecting dust for some time and I put brush to canvas and the rest is history. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I've been creative my entire life and always wanted to be an artist of some medium (or several), but for some reason found calling myself an "artist" uncomfortable. Thought you had to be published or show in galleries or have a rep, etc. In my mid-twenties, I was concentrating on writing. I started a lot of novels and short stories, but only finished a couple of the short stories. A friend at the time quoted a line from a Woody Allen film… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I made this list back in 2006. I thought being an artist was something technical, something hands on. Being an artist is something internal. You can learn it, but it's not something you have to go to school for, and that's what I've learned in art school...haha.It took me forever days because I'm still learning. Artists can be made, but they can learn from nature or from a difficult experience or an enlightening event. It's hard to explain… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I am 25 years old and I have been drawing and painting ever since I was a child. I was always very precious about my work, I was not like all the other kids who would show their scribbles to anyone who would look, but rather I would sit by myself with my oils and brushes (yes my mother gave me real oils) and use up every piece of paper I could find, never satisfied that I had done my best.I received recognition when I was 7, by winning a … Read how I did it…
How I did it: Just live life! Your creativity will come out. Sometimes it's at the top of the reports I have to turn in, sometimes it's the way I take a picture.... Read how I did it…

I’ve got 2, a romance and realistic fiction.
I use the snowflake method to write. (http://www.advancedfictionwriting.com/art/snowflake.php) I’m on step 4 with my romance. I’m not even on step 2 with the realistic fiction. >.<
I’m just not sure how far I can go right now. I’m busy with drawing and socializing.
I’ll write up a good to-do list tonight and update with my new decision.
If I decide to go ahead, I’ll probably join the Romance Writers of Arizona. The buddy program will definitely help.

Currently, I’m trying to draw 43 full colored pics in 43 days.
Unfortunately, at this point, I am 3 pics behind and will be 4 by tomorrow. So by tomorrow, I’ll have 5 pics to draw.
Here’s my plan
3/15- Draw 2 pics, 3 pics left
3/16- Draw 2 pics, 2 pics left
3/17- Draw 2 pics, 1 pic left
3/18- Draw 2 pics, 0 pics left
Also, to finish my current picture, I will need blending pencils. I can probably buy that from Michael’s.
So, I’ll post later on my progress. Wish me luck.
ive set aside time almost everyday to do nothing but be creative and scream colors. ive been making a load of progress and im really proud of myself. the dream is still in a sort of fetal position but i dont worry about it dying inside me anymore. this ones coming out healthy and if i keep on like i have this work will be done before the month is out. and of course, we go back to the drawing board and do it all over again. thanks for the cheers.
I want to reconnect with my artistic side, to return to the child who would spend hours at a time immersed in the pages of a sketchbook – and get paid handsomely for it.
ive had a lot of distractions lately. foolishness. today im going to shut everything and everyone out and cuddle with my brushes. i wont see my dreams crucified.
I know, it’s just so exciting! Isn’t it just an amazing feeling when someone actually likes your stuff enough to want to pay money for it! It was a just a very quick pen & ink dawing I did many years ago and it was gathering dust at the back of my portfolio but now it has a proper mount and backing and I’ve added my name (had a lot of practice just getting the signature right!). The hardest part has been putting a price on it. I mean how do you put a price on your own work?
ive set up a shop on etsy and ive been devoting a lot of time to getting my work in order because before this i just didnt bother. undisciplined. i know that it will take a lot of patience and effort but im certain im on a right course with my life in making these choices to share a little bit of my truth with the world in the best way that i know how. im so excited about all the possibilities. good going me.
ive been creative all my life and i never gave much attention to it. everyone always praised my ability but id just shrug it off. ive come to a point where i know i love painting and drawing and would like to find more time to do it. we all have a statement wed like to make in the world and thru this medium im convinced i can speak the loudest. i hope to make a change in someones life or their way of thinking but if not i know at least ill have made a big change in my own and that when all is finished ill be able to say i tried and used my best voice. thats that.
