Go see a Minnesota Rollergirls bout

Wow. Sexy girls of all shapes and sizes skating very fast in very short skirts, knocking each other over, getting into fights, not caring who sees their underwear. What a thrill. The place was packed, the energy was high, and it was a total blast. Apparently they have tons of insurance to cover themselves and even the audience members, since the girls regularly go flying into the laps of people in the first few rows! No one ended up in my lap, though.

I still want to be a rollergirl, but the list of injured players does give one pause. It’s pretty long and the injuries don’t sound pleasant: torn rotator cuffs, PCL injuries, dislocations, broken bones. Eek! But what fun. I am entranced.

... but let’s just start by watching a bout, shall we? Sort of a cross between burlesque and WWF wrestling—but on wheels! What’s not to like?

I just went to their website (http://www.mnrollergirls.com/) and it looks like the next bout is scheduled for May 22nd. I’ll see about getting tickets and a date.
