2 years on, as I’m slowly putting together a custom debian package I found my 43 things account by searching my username. To my surprise I found this “Thing”. Its safe to say that I’m getting there.
Running linux a few days ago, I’m hoping to get comfortable with the terminal. I guess the only way to do it is to play around with it for long enough. I think thats the best way to learn anything about computers.
atm I feel like an 85 year old technophobe sat in google’s server room.
Ahhh, linux, been using it since kernel 2.0 (1995ish). Started off by reading all of the HOWTO’s on http://www.tldp.org, played with all the linux distro’s I could fit on my hard drive(s). Use it still to this day except at work. Done in the past or do everything from apache, MySQL, Samba, to XFree86/Xorg and building custom kernels/RPMs.
So I’m dual booting XP and Ubuntu on my desktop at home now, though I can’t think of the last time that I booted into Windows. I still have this as a goal though because, while I can do the basics, sometimes very simple things stump me, and I’m nowhere near as comfortable in the terminal as I’d like to be! But I’m learning by doing, so it’s coming along!
I am basically love linux operating system.
I learned linux through my self study.
I am more intrested to learn about security linux.
If anyone helps me it is very good for me..

I’m going back to Windows. Right now. Give me slashes the way they were MEANT to be.
:P
My server at home is linux (Fedora) as is one of my laptops. While I’m “ok” at it, I know enough to realize that I know very very little :)
I’d like to get to the point where I could easily setup a full workstation and server without having to look at the man pages over and over and over :)
Haven’t had a chance to play with other distributions, but would like to soon
should i say i have done it? i dont think so….got a long way to go…not in this lifetime most probably…mastering linux is next to impossible…i have put gentoo on a couple of comps now…ppl come to me when their boxes go kaput…does all of that make me a linux master? NO WAY!
