ho do i make a labyrinth

    I can be such a show-off! 2 years ago

Why else would you want a labyrinth, huh?! To wow your friends! (And enemies)

You can make a temporary pavement paint out of cornstarch, water, and laundry soap powder. You cook the cornstarch in lots of water—when it boils and thickens, take it off the heat, then wait a minute and stir in the laundry soap. You’ll have to experiment with proportions and amounts. Then you can take your paper diagram and copy it onto pavement in temporary paint, somewhere safe with ample space. It’s a lot of work, but the result is very cool! The “paint” should dry white. Obviously don’t do this on a rainy day. A small labyrinth will require something on the order of 8 litres or 2 gallons, but it depends on the thickness of your lines and the convolution of your labyrinth.

Sidewalk chalk would be easier, if you have it, though maybe not as visually arresting.

It’s a fun, low-stress way to give yourself and others the experience of walking a labyrinth.

I’ve done two temporary labyrinths but now I want to do one that is permanent.

Become proficient at creating them at the beach! Just to be able to make one in the sand, wherever!

The big goal to this is to make a personal labyrinth, and then to assist in making a permenant labyrinth, on a team.

It got icy, then it got snowed over…and then I got busy.

    Excuses, excuses, huh?

I started with the Green Rectangle Labyrinth Design 3 years ago

I chose the Green Rectangle design (pictured) and started this project yesterday in the snow on Victory Memorial Drive outside my home.

I measured the width and height in paces, starting with the entrance. I didn’t realize how much work this would be! No wonder landscapers are ooften hired to do this kind of work. I think I spent about an hour outside just to do this much. Will see if I can get a photo of my progress tomorrow.
