Well, I’ve been still using IE 6.0 on my home desktop for a while though I had the old Netscape Mozilla installed on that computer too. I was tired of the messages every time I logged into Netscape so I stopped using it instead of upgrading it. Today someone tried hacking my credit card, as well as my yahoo account, so I decided it was time to upgrade my browser so it would be more secure (and give me tab functionality). I was tempted to check out Google Chrome, but as I’ve been happy with Mozilla in the past decided to go with Firefox. I can tell you I’m loving the automatic spell check right now. No more typos in my entries here on 43Things. 3 years ago

How I did it: I simply got tired of the slow progress of Internet Explorer and wanted a better experience. I've since discovered Firefox and how cool it is with the add-ons and intuitive interface. I don't ever want to go back. Read how I did it… 3 years ago

How I did it: Its easy you just take your internet browser go to firefox.com or something and just keep using firefox once you have installed it. Internet Explorer gets annoying after a while when just trying it after using firefox for a long time because the addons and buttons arent there and you have to do more things manually that you are used to doing really easy with firefox. lol. I switched! You can do it too! Read how I did it… 4 years ago

been running Firefox for three months never looked back! I am a true convert! Long live safe, fast, free internet browsing! Oh, and Firefox 3 will have to be brilliant to topple the current version:) 5 years ago

I don’t know about other people but my Internet Explorer has plague me with error after error! Very unstable and unreliable in my past experiences…But since switching to Firefox, I have had no crashes at all in MONTHS of use – and my IE would crash nearly daily!
I'm a Firefox believer.

I had to switch browsers so I could enjoy Gather.com. It wouldn’t work with my Netscape. I am very pleased with how fast it loads up. I haven’t used all the functions yet though. 5 years ago

...is a much better browser than Internet Explorer. I find that it’s faster, more reliable, and has a sleeker, easier to use design. IE has actually adopted a lot of the features of Firefox-tabbed browsing and the search bar in the corner. Firefox’s design is still a little bit simpler and, in my humble opinion, better looking. One feature that I don’t like about Firefox, however, is it’s mail browser. Thunderbird just doesn’t do it for me…Outlook Express is a better choice in that realm.

OK, a nice helpful 43t’er told me there’s a plug in to help with my IE compatibility problem. Installed it – it works.

The spell check feature that Waterfall Nymph bragged about was enough to make me curious. I made the change earlier in the week and so far, I’m hooked!
My only problem is… I’ve selected a new theme but it isn’t showing up. Is there something special you have to do to get a theme to show?

But I’m not marking this off as done because I’m not sure if I’ll keep Firefox.
A big problem is that it doesn’t seem to be compatible with Live365 – the internet radio station that I pay for a subscription on. I could still use Live365 on IE, and Firefox for other stuff I guess, but that seems like rather a hassle.
On the other hand, I am typing this entry via Firefox, and I’m noticing that it has an automatic spell check! That IS cool…
But the jury’s still out. I’ll give it a week or so. 6 years ago

Microsoft annoys me in general. It bugs me that they have such a software monopoly. However, I have had the same hotmail account for the past 10 years, and can’t absolutely give up my email address – I DO sometimes get random emails from old friends I had lost contact with.
But as far as Internet Explorer, I am not too fussed about it. so I’d like to try Firefox now (well, maybe by this weekend).
And the next time I get a computer (probably next year), I’m going to look into getting a non-MS operating system. 6 years ago

Mozilla Firefox is much simpler and it looks great. I can also let my mom work with it. Also Portable Firefox is very useful to carry around on USB flash media. And it’s easy to add functionality with extensions. 6 years ago

I enjoy it a lot, although it doesn’t seem to have all the bells n whistles as Safari. Unless I’ve just not figured it all out yet…
I like how you can save all your tabs, and it loads MUCH faster than Safari too. 6 years ago
