Had a chance to live and work in Taiwan for 2 years in 2001. I really enjoyed the country, the people, the culture, the language…amazing. Not perfect, obviously – I quickly got my fill of teaching English to kids (tired enough that I never plan to do it again :) and air pollution (my lungs weren’t the same for a few years). I recommend living in one of the smaller cities (especially Tainan, where I was).

Not to be offensive, but to be sentimental-
I hope taiwanese people don’t lose their characteristic uniqueness as more and more chinese people move in…
hopefully it’ll still be like the taiwan i know now by the time i get a job, make money, and finally move…
little poetery :D
this one’s called Hell inspired by Dante’s “Inferno”
I can’t catch my breath
As I journey through the circles of death
First I try to find my way
In the dark where little sins lay
Then I see all the carnal desires
As I try to pass the eternal hell fires
Third I pass the rains of filth
Jumbled corpses by horror filled
Than of nowhere the prodigal came
Charging with boulders, blood-spattered game
I try to keep my sanity unscathed
Since I’m inside Styx swathed
I see the demons guarding Dis
Closing eyes, evoke the bliss
I cannot journey more than here
My head swells by demon leer
It’s such a beauuutifffulll independent country :) My parents are Taiwanese, but I’m living here in the US (being American born)... though my dad’s living there as a current job. Anyways! I’ve lived there from “preschool” to first grade, and visited back and fourth very often to meet old family friends, relatives… Everywhere you look, it’s always full of busy activities to do. Paradise :)Once I finish school/college, I’m definitely going to die there. Worth doing!
taiwan is really a beautiful island, and overlooked by loads of westerners…
let them have thailand. taiwan is lovely and the people are great.
Did it for a year, had a once in a life time job and lived my dream!
By the way the building on the right was my office.
