anichkin going to a restaurant with my family
Yeah, that is what I’ve dreamed of for several years now..
A backpack, a pair of sandals, and a complete freedom in choosing where to go and what to do.
South-eastern Asia just keeps calling me) Coming soon, darling)
The number one problem is I have no reliable travelmate yet…
Number two is… well, it will be pretty hard to manage this with my parents. It must be really scary for them to let their daughter travel that far from home alone…
But I just don’t want to imagine living my my life without doing this thing!

This is not going to happen any time soon. I don’t have anyone to go with me and I’m not going by myself. Hopefully as soon as possible, but not this year! So, for now I give up on this.

My husband isn’t as into hiking as I am. He will go on a short 2 mile kind of hike, but not much more than that. I had a friend at work that I was planning a trip with, but then she got sick when we were supposed to go earlier in the summer and then we never got around to planning another one. Now she is in school again for the year plus working full time. I guess this one is on hold for now, but I’m keeping it on my list because I really want to go as soon as I can find someone to go with me!

I’ve always wanted to do this…
but not alone, for sure.
Now to find someone and somewhere….

I went on a few, actually. One near Fossil, OR; one in Fern Canyon, CA; one around Mt. St. Helens; and one around South Sister in Oregon.

I left 5 days ago to go down to north Georgia to go on a backpacking trip with my dad and my dog,Duke. The Wilderness area was called Cohutta and Big Frog. The first night we stayed on camping grounds and our plan was to start on the trail the next morning. The first trail we started on was called Tearbritches which was pretty good.On our way down the trail we came across a huge river where we stopped and ate lunch. The river was called Jack’s River. It was awesome! We then started the Hickory Creek trail where we eventually stopped set up the tent and called it a day.Our tent was right by a creek so we had water, and my dad had a filter so we knew it was alright to drink.Other than the creek we had a really crappy camp site. The next morning we had to get to the East Cowpen trail which was a 2 and a half mile climb up to Buckeye Mountain. This was the hardest trail. It was so long and it was hot outside and we had to climb 1800 feet.At this time I wanted to quit and I wanted to be home sitting and being on 43things.It was miserable! We finally got to the top and that was a relief. We then came across Panther Creek and we couldn’t find the trail. We asked this guy where the trail was and he said on the left side of the waterfall and we were looking for that trail for an hour.We found out that the trail was on the right side but we were going to save that for the next day.So we decided to camp there and it was a pretty good campsite. The next day went down that trail and the rest of the way was pretty easy. But when we got to the Conasauga River trail we had to cross the river 13 times. While we continued,I ran into a bee hive and got stung 17 times.Well,we finished that trail and we took a break to get ready for Chestnut Lead Trail.Right when we got started on that trail it started pouring down rain and everything was drenched.I used all my strength to make it to the top. When we made it to the top it stopped raining. At the top was the parking lot but we had parked 1 mile from there so we walked there. At last I saw the Ford Escape and we got out of the Cohutta Wilderness. It felt good to accomplish something I have always wanted to do.When we got back to civilization we ate at Arby’s.On this trip I learned a lot about myself,my dog, and my dad. This was a great experience. The picture is of my co-pilot Duke.

So my friend and I were supposed to be leaving today for our little 3 day backpacking trip. But she is sick! So we’ll have to reschedule for later in the summer. We will go some time this summer though. We were both so excited too!

My friend and I got together today to plan our trip. We leave in 4 days for a 3 day trip. I can’t wait! A friend from work and I went on a little trip last year and now I think we’re making it an annual girls only event! It should be a lot of fun.
