I love animals.. especially dogs and hope to get a puppy someday. Only problem is I’m renting right now and no animals are allowed, this is the case for most units. So..I’ve decided not to wait anymore and will look for volunteering work for an dog shelter, maybe RSPCA..Everytime I walk by a pet store I can’t help starring at the pups..I’m sure many dogs can benefit from my help and it doesn’t look like I will get one anytime soon =(

I love animals and I know that if I worked at an animal shelter, I would probably want to take them home with me. When I was a kid I would pay this boy a quarter to put any stray cats he found in my backyard so I could feed them. I could not have a pet because my mother had asthma, but I wanted a pet so badly so I fed the stray cats in the neighborhood.

So I drove out to the place where they fingerprint you so that you can work/volunteer with the State of Texas. The building was extremely difficult to find as it was in a row of 3 building that appeared virtually identical. I went into 2 before I found the right one. Everyone was nice in the first 2 buildings. When I got to the third, correct building, everyone was incredibly rude. The person doing the fingerprints was rough with my hands…pulling them and pulling slightly violently at my fingers. I sent a little prayer to her as she is probably not paid well and has a rough situation and that is what is causing her not to have compassion during her job. I thought about how easy it would have been for her to be nice to me during our 10 minute interaction. She wasn’t though. She really pulled at my fingers and it kind of hurt. I hope her life gets better and her job gets easier. Anyway, so the fingerprinting was the last step before I got to the volunteer orientation! All I have to do now is go to the volunteer orientation in April and donate $15. This goal is coming to fruition! SOON! SOON!!

I still really want todo this 4 months ago

The problem is that the only animal shelter that is here does not need much help but ging out with the dogs. But I want to do more.
And actually I think it would be some kind of a waste of time to spend more than an hour to get to the shelter to go out with a dog and then need an hour more to get home again.

So I hope I will have the opportunity to do this someday.
Until that I will do something else that my help… eg becoming a greenpeace activist^^

Animal Shelters! 4 months ago

I think that many people should help out at animal shelters, because their doing it for a good cause.
i also think that when you work at an animal shelter you feel more apart of the community, because your doing something to help it.
I would love to work at an animal shelter because i love animals, and taking care of them, i have animals of my own, and they are very healthy.
I’ve never worked in a animal shelter before, but i really want to!
It would be a very good experience for me aswell, it would be for anyone!:)

Something for my resume, plus time with cuddly animals. 4 months ago

I think a lot of people don’t realise that working with animals doesn’t mean getting to sit around and cuddle cute fluffy kittens and puppies all day. I realise that I will be breaking my back in 40 degree heat cleaning up animal crap, but I still want to do it. I love animals, and it’s something to put on my resume, right?

Today I went to an animal shelter and filled in a volunteer form. Should start in about 2 weeks…
