I love animals. I’ve always wanted to help out at the shelter, but my parents won’t take me there because “it’s a waste of time and money”. I’m going to start volunteering there, as soon as I get my driver’s license. Plus, I want to own a boarding kennel when I finish high school, so this will get me used to working with different animals and stuff because the only experience I’ve had with animals is my pet, and I just have a feeling that this will be a bit different.

How to volunteer at an animal shelter"More than my fair share of cuddly animals."
How I did it: Two weeks ago I went to a nearby animal shelter, had a look around and picked up a volunteer form. I filled them out and brought them back to the shelter earlier today, and they let me get stuck right into work. I've more experience with cats than dogs, so they put me in the cat pens and I got right into work. Lessons & tips: It helps to have a poor sense of smell... and a strong will, because you're going to want to adopt every animal in sight! Resources: Google - search for an animal shelter near you :).

How I did it: I searched online to find the closest animal shelter. I went to their website and filled out a volunteer application and waited for a response. It took a few days before I got a response but it was worth the wait. I went to an orientation and a training session, and now I'm learning on my own and hoping to learn a lot more as I go along! How I did it: I went to the animal shelter website, filled out an application and mailed it in. It was pretty heart breaking, all the animals had desperate and sad eyes and some were howling and crying. I really hope this animal shelter will agree to let me volunteer there..It’s very strange to actually see an animal shelter for the first time because I couldn’t believe that there were so many unwanted animals living like this. My own dog was given to the pound by my parents without my knowledge so it’s hard to imagine that how scared she must have been to stay locked up in a small cage and wondering where I am or if I’ll save her. The shelter is taking good care of them and giving them alot of exercise but they obviously need alot more TLC like a loving family. I’m now more determined than ever to do my part and hopefully save some lives
I love animals, but i’m only 15. so i don’t think i can volunteer anywhere.:(

I love animals.. especially dogs and hope to get a puppy someday. Only problem is I’m renting right now and no animals are allowed, this is the case for most units. So..I’ve decided not to wait anymore and will look for volunteering work for an dog shelter, maybe RSPCA..Everytime I walk by a pet store I can’t help starring at the pups..I’m sure many dogs can benefit from my help and it doesn’t look like I will get one anytime soon =(
i love animals i want to help, save, and take care of hurt and abonded animals
