LailahNew shift

I have been volunteering in the boarding section of the shelter for almost a year now for two days per week, one day cleaning and the other cat cuddling.

I needed to change my current shifts over to weekends from the start of March onwards, so now I volunteer on weekends but only one day per week because that is all that is available. I’d like to volunteer more hours though, on both days of the weekend not just one.

I still have my same shifts, just on different days now. I have also started volunteering in the actual shelter itself doing cat cuddling. I had my first shift recently and now I want to adopt a cat.

I actually wanted to adopt an older/senior female cat but I have two Jack Russell x Chihuahua’s and I’m not sure how the cat or my dogs would react/adjust to a new animal in their environment. I think it might be best to adopt a kitten so that the kitten can grow up with my dogs. It’s a big decision though, I have been thinking about the possibility of adopting a cat for over a year now and still am not sure. 4 weeks ago

helloeloI've volunteered at

both domestic animal shelters and wildlife shelters. I find it harder emotionally to volunteer at the animal shelter with all the cats and dogs because I know they need to find someone to take them home and love them, where as you just help the wildlife grow into functioning adults and release them, so it is much more rewarding in that sense. 4 months ago

ILostMySanityI want to help.

I’ve been looking into getting two new kittens recently and have decided that I want to adopt from a shelter. I realized that they really need good homes and would love to help. That made me realize that in the future when possible I would like to volunteer, especially knowing extra help is needed. In fact I created this today to remind me of it so I don’t forget.

I love animals. <3 4 months ago

Lailah5 weeks into this goal

I started volunteering five weeks ago in the boarding center. I volunteer two hours a week for cat cuddling and three hours a week for cleaning. I actually look forward to the two days of the week that I get to volunteer.

The cleaning shift is three hours of non-stop cleaning and it is such good exercise and I enjoy doing it because I know it’s for the animals. The cat cuddling is good for obvious reasons lol.

I love animals and have wanted to volunteer for years so I knew that this goal would be worthwhile and meaningful to me. Being around animals is always a nice feeling and the staff and other volunteers that I have met are such friendly/nice people. Over all volunteering has been a very pleasant and enjoyable experience for me.

I would love to work there one day or somewhere similar, that would be my dream job, it wouldn’t even feel like work because I’d be doing something I love. I think most jobs like that are only part time and I need full-time work so unfortunately for me I most likely will not get to work in that area. If there was a real possibility that I could get full-time work in this area I would complete the required studying/training asap. 10 months ago

LailahFirst day in cleaning

Today I had my first day of the cleaning/laundry shift in the boarding center. It’s hard work and so dirty, at the end of the shift I just wanted to come home and wash my clothes and shower and wash my hair.

It’s completely worth it though because it’s for the animals, it’s also good exercise which is another plus. 11 months ago

LailahFirst day

Today was my first day volunteering at the shelter, I was cat cuddling in the boarding center. The cats were just darling, it didn’t even feel like volunteer work :)

I am going to be cat cuddling in boarding once per week and cleaning in boarding once per week, those are now considered my permanent roles until I am unable to continue volunteering. 11 months ago

LailahVolunteering

I received my police clearance certificate in the mail last week and have since organised some volunteer work for next week :)

I wanted to volunteer in whichever area needed more people so I’ll be volunteering in cat cuddling in boarding first, once weekly.

When I get there we’ll be going over the roster properly, I’m hoping to volunteer in other areas too if possible, like cleaning and cat cuddling in the shelter.

I’m willing to volunteer on any weekday, any time. I’ve decided not to volunteer on weekends because most of the rallies I go to are held on weekends and it is very important to me to attend the rallies. 11 months ago
