Today I had my first day of the cleaning/laundry shift in the boarding center. It’s hard work and so dirty, at the end of the shift I just wanted to come home and wash my clothes and shower and wash my hair.
I’m glad I only signed up to clean once per week, it is good exercise though. I wasn’t expecting it to be fun, it is cleaning after all lol. It’s worth it though because it’s for the animals. 1 day ago

Today was my first day volunteering at the shelter, I was cat cuddling in the boarding center. The cats were just darling, it didn’t even feel like volunteer work :)
I am going to be cat cuddling in boarding once per week and cleaning in boarding once per week, those are now considered my permanent roles until I am unable to continue volunteering. 2 days ago

I received my police clearance certificate in the mail last week and have since organised some volunteer work for next week :)
I wanted to volunteer in whichever area needed more people so I’ll be volunteering in cat cuddling in boarding first, once weekly.
When I get there we’ll be going over the roster properly, I’m hoping to volunteer in other areas too if possible, like cleaning and cat cuddling in the shelter.
I’m willing to volunteer on any weekday, any time. I’ve decided not to volunteer on weekends because most of the rallies I go to are held on weekends and it is very important to me to attend the rallies. 1 week ago

I went to the animal shelter this week to attend the volunteer information session where I filled out an application form.
I found out that this particular shelter is in fact not a no-kill shelter which is very disappointing. It’s the only local shelter so I had no other options of volunteering elsewhere.
In order to be able to volunteer, I need to have a current police clearance certificate. I’ve sent my application form off and am waiting for the certificate to arrive in the mail.
I put my name down for three different areas of volunteering: cleaning, office admin and cat cuddling in the shelter and in boarding. They may not even need me to volunteer so I just have to wait and see what happens. 1 month ago

I filled out an online application form for volunteer work last week. I checked my emails this morning and noticed an email from the animal shelter. I received an invite to the volunteer information session in April and have already sent my RSVP note back and have received a confirmation email so it’s definitely happening.
I am unsure as to whether or not this particular animal shelter is a no-kill shelter. At first I thought it wasn’t a no-kill shelter but I’m not sure why I thought that. I hope very much so that it is a no-kill shelter but I cannot find anything about it on their website so I will just have to wait and find out in April. 2 months ago

Unfortunately I dont think I will be able to achieve this until after June next year as Im working as well as attending college and in all my free time Im having to do ‘homework’. Animals are something I care passionately about so I definitely want to help out at some point, my only problem is Im sure I will want to take all the animals home. Ive researched this a bit and the RSPCA offer a lot of different volunteering roles which is really good. 7 months ago
