I love it..reason enough to want to DJ? I really just want to share amazing music with people but I’m sure there are cheaper and easier ways to do that.
I miss the days of going to a club to be educated in good music. Maybe I’m going to the wrong places (I rightly or wrongly stick to Indie ‘alternative’ club nights) but it seems like todays DJ gets an easy ride regurgitating the same ‘classics’ night in night out….which if your not drinking makes for a pretty dull night.
Why would I pay £10 to listen to ‘This Charming Man’ for the 1000th time when I could have done that at home for free?
Not that I could do any better, I’m a novice who would be starting from scratch but I at least want to. Plus I don’t really see many female DJ’s around so I’d like to make up the numbers! What is the best way to learn?
Read books?
Watch and learn?

go to www.scratch.com
Learn how to dj, remix, produce, scratch and mix!
6 week courses and private lessons too
(I did private lessons with DJ HAPA and I was told I got about as far in 5 days as he did in about a year and a half!)
When you call, ask for Michael- he was the one who helped me get set up as well

lappynet has toothache from the dentist visit yesterday
Well, I might be changing this one slightly. Instead of doing all the hard work for a personal goal, I’m going to buy a Pacemaker. I still have to skill up and get technique, but at least the hard technical skill isn’t going to get in the way of my enjoyment. Yeah it’s a cheat, but what a cheat! :D

I need to get some equipment first so I’ll start saving up for that when I get my first paycheque in my new job :) oh the excitement! :)

luvladyleo is too excited about school!!! I'm just giddy :P
I was cruising Craigslist, like I always like to do when I am bored, and I came across this ad for a DJ. Of course, I get excited about it, but I’m just waiting for the let down. For example, you need your own equipment or have X amount of years…
But no… they are welcoming new comers and you’ll be trained. So ya I have an interview with them tomorrow. Too excited about it… I’ll let you know what happens.

I’ve always wanted to explore and learn how to use turn-tables. I love really good beats and I think I have a ear for music, its my life.

For Christmas, my wonderful boyfriend bought me a digital mixing board, and his amazing friend found the perfect software to run it with. Unfortunately I haven’t had a lot of time to play with it yet, but hopefully I’ll be able to set myself a little schedule so I make the time to practice.
I love it!

Although it is said that anyone can do it, not anyone does. Some can sculpt amazing sounds out of two vinyls played together. It takes creativity & knowing what the people on the other side want to hear.
Most parties I go to, DnB is the focus. When the sun rises I think there needs to be a mellow vibe, so people can chill & recover a little. I am a complete virgin to the whole process, but understand it from the textbook point of view – just need to put it into practice!
I think electronic beats & rhythms can manipulate your state of mind, & I don’t think there is a limit to how much you can manipulate the sounds either – I would just like to experiment with this idea a little.
