I will have this crossed out by September.
I am a fresh college graduate and currently unemployed by choice as I take time to travel before embarking on any work that would confine me in an office cubicle.
Although I have been to Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines (the last two being my homecountries), I never considered my previous trips as “backpacking”. They were pretty much nice holidays funded by the parents, involving plane rides, nice hotels and sufficient pocket money. But I’ve always longed for something else, and I’ll finally get to do it next month.
I know, you must be thinking, why the heck would you want to rough it up? It’s all about the joy of independent travel. Getting dirty and going through the road less-traveled
My upcoming route (August to September): Manila (Philippines) – Singapore – Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) – Siem Reap (Cambodia) – Hanoi (Vietnam) – Bangkok (Thailand) – Phuket (Thailand) – Singapore.
Should be fun. Will be taking about 6 flights, a couple of bumpy bus rides and definitely lots of tuk tuks and taxis.
I can’t wait.
