From The Daylight Saving change: no savings, no point:
As it turns out, the US Department of Energy (and almost everyone else except members of Congress) was correct when they predicted that there would be little energy savings. This echoed concerns voiced after a similar experiment was attempted in Australia. Critics pointed out a basic fact: the gains in the morning will be offset by the losses at night, and vice-versa, at both ends of the switch. That appears to be exactly what happened.
Besides, I missed an implosion because of the stupid DST change.

~ John Lee ~ setting my sights lower so I can set them higher
This evening those of us in the US will move our clocks ahead one hour in observance of daylight savings time. Here’s the dilema:
Do I go to bed an hour earlier than usual and wake up at my normal time so I get my full amount of sleep?
Do I go to bed at the normal time wake up at the normal time essentially giving up an hour of sleep?
Do I go to bed the normal time and wake up after I have slept the normal number of hours, thereby starting my day late (and risk being one of those people who show up at church late?
Oh the dilema !

I may just have to sit all the way in the back of church this Sunday to see the faces of the people who think they are showing up for the 10 oclock and wonder why the liturgy is so far along …

There is a part of me that feels really goofy having this as a goal, especially since my other “observe” goal is Lent, but there is a logic to it, really.
So many people are used to DayLight Savings Time starting in April that I am sure not many people know that it’s almost here. Hopefully very few of my subscribers will be late for things next Sunday and Monday.

Daylight Savings in the United States changes this year – starting on March 11 and continuing though most of November. The change should help save about 1% of our energy usage.
I wonder if the 1% accounts for just the energy used to light our homes and work?
I know that once DST starts, I will surely spend more time outdoors, getting more fit so my weight will drop. Less weight means less energy needed to move my car.
