He has always been and will always be one of my very favorite artists of all time. I would like to pay tribute and respect to him at some point. He will never be forgotten.

Visited St. Ann's in Brooklyn 4 years ago

Well…I heard, thanks to this site that Jeff was cremated (sp?) by his mother and she has his ashes somewhere in her home. I don’t plan on meeting Mary so I figured the best I could do would be to go to St. Ann’s in Brooklyn and see where his funeral service was. This was also where he was “discovered” during his father’s service. I, actually, walked all the way from Chelsea to the church making stops at the address where Sin-e used to be (drank a Guiness there) and also stopped by Arlene’s Grocery (a great bootleg if anyone hasn’t heard it yet). Anyway…I didn’t think that the church was open but I went to the side entrance and the man at the desk was extermely nice and let me in. I listened to “Satisfied Mind” which is the last song played at his service and just kind of refelected on how his music has seriously touched me and helped me become a better musician. It was a great time and has allowed me to accept my little obsession (haha) and now move on. I also recommend to anyone to check out the bar that Sin-e used to be at. The bartender was extremely nice and could just tell why I was there. He asked, “Jeff Buckley fan?” (In an Irish accent). I responded, “yeah…HUGE fan!” He then said that he felt like Buckley ran the place still. So cool that he still holds that power…he more than deserves the legendary status that he earned in his lifetime.

I want to pay my respects to Jeff in just about any way possible. His songs and poetry, his voice and talent have made me look at life, death, and whatever in-between in a new profound way. He’s inspired me to become a better musician and person as a whole. I highly recommend that anyone and everyone try to learn his songs. His talent shines through even more (which doesn’t seem possible) when one realizes how amazingly unique each chord is and how amazingly intense and complex his melodies are to sing. I also recommend that anyone reading this research his “Momma Dogga” poem..this is the humble, sincere, beautiful person shining through that I’m so upset to say that I never got to meet or experience during his lifetime. Thank God there’s so much to remember him by. While I’m sure I could never get enough of any possible “new songs” that he would have released, his existing memories are already more than enough.
