bryannnc does not like being treated like a receptacle for others' angst
Many people have different feels for their vibrato, and there are different varieties. The usual categorization is finger vibrato, wrist/hand vibrato, and elbow/arm vibrato, the differences between each being the way you cause the pulsations that slightly alter the pitch at a quick enough speed.
A good beginner drill is to pull a straight bow and work on getting a set number of modulations of pitch per bow, starting with maybe two or three and, after practicing for a while, a full vibrato.
An accomplished string musician should be able to alter his/her vibrato to change the speed and width to match what s/he is playing.
