starting on one of these…very cute, coffee brown corduroy on one side and light blue calico on the other. I’m not sure what kind of fastener I will put on this, probably a button, but I’ve never made a buttonhole before, so I don’t know. This’ll be cute with some fun pins fastened to it, anyway.

Curtains from Scratch 15 months ago

So i’ve been working hard redoing the 1/2 Bath (another goal) and i’ve just finished curtains i whipped off from scratch. They aren’t amazing, i didn’t follow a pattern, just sort of wingin’ it.
First, I looked in the stores and the prices astounded me. It wasn’t only about the price but what you get for your $$. 4 Hems + crappy fabric, come on!
My Nana, a great seamstress and DIY’er also taught me about value. She grew up in hard times but loved fashion & beautiful things. She never bought curtains—they are some of the easiest things to sew. I don’t think i’ll ever buy curtains again… Thanks Nana!

A small start 16 months ago

As part of having renovated my dining room, i broke out the sewing machine to hem and correct the curtains. I have 2 sets, one on the windows and another i adapted to hang in front of the french doors. On a difficulty scale >> super easy. But, hey, it’s a start.

My mind has been really preoccupied with a hundred thoughts, many of them negative and bumming me out. I forgot how much sewing helps me clear my mind and focus. At least for a little while i felt calm and peaceful. So nice!

I snatched up a billion patterns when Rag Shop when out of business. They were 10 for $10!! The problem is finding decent material. :(
