Have been attempting to do one all my life, and it ALWAYS turns into this retarded crab thing and/or an enoumous crash at the end where I roll across the ground several times while attempting to stop. Not a very good display when it come to a gymnastics assessment I’m afraid =(
Oh well – maybe on some really nice day when I’m outside and nobody’s wathing me – I’ll fulfil this lifelong dream, lol
had a spare moment and a nice patch of lawn at hand, so i thought I’d do my annual cartwheel (its a good way to gauge the rate of one’s inevitable decline). Did it, but split my sexy pants! They were getting a bit threadbare and were on their way out anyway, but still, they had been such a good friend.. Felt sad, until I get a new pair of sexy pants the next day (I was on holiday at the time and didn’t have spare pants. Couldn’t go around with my bum hanging out, even if I was on holiday) hooray!
it’s about the most acrobatic thing I’m actually able to do, hehe, but it’s fun… learned when I was little by the “hand hand foot foot” method. :P We used mats that had the two hands and the two feet and you were supposed to get your own hands and feet to land on those spots, but basically you just need one hand to hit the ground, then the other hits slightly farther ahead, then pretty much the same thing with the feet, I believe. :P I’d be terrible at teaching it but it’s definitely a fun thing to learn. :)
its an awesome party trick to do…same as flips and handstands…and also…my favourite for displaying how bendy my back is…do a handstand…then fall forwards into a crab position, move your feet and hands closer together until you can touch your ankles, and then curve up to standing :) x
i spin guard, and today at band camp (lame, i know, i know, but i love it) i was practicing.
i’m so on my way.
I can execute a fairly passable cartwheel (though its a horrible sign of encroaching old age that I have to think carefully about it before I do one and the hammies hurt afterwards) but I used to be able to do a nice roundoff at the end – where both feet hit the ground at the same time. You sort of have to twist around 90 degrees while you’re going over, and kind of spring off your hands a bit. Not very confident about mastering this, but its not a hugely important goal, anyway…
BrittanyMarie is quite sick :(
cartwheels are fun, especially when you’ve got nothing better to do on a warm summer day.
