"it connected me to total strangers, and made me look at people completely differently."

How I did it: I went to the grocery store with a friend and we staked out in the parking lot. i brought the 3 year old i babysit with us. there is nothing like a cute little kid to break tension and remind us it's ok to be silly. we had a big sign that said FREE HUGS and we'd just ask people if they'd like one. most said no, but some said yes! one lady even stated "oh i'm so glad you're here, i really needed one of those today". most wanted a hug from my little 3 year old friend. it was such a great feeling to be connected to people like that, through such a simple caring action. Care about other people! it makes all the difference!

Lessons & tips: don't be shy, just go DO IT!

How I did it: I met up with the leader of "FreeHugsCampaign" in NYC and picked myself up some free hug t-shirts and pins. I wanted to do it legitimately and add my own spin on the works.  Each time I spread love in the form of a hug I ask the person to sign my Free Hugs T-shirt with a sharpie. Hold up and sign and you get twice as many people to give you hugs. Its easy and completely FREE! Read how I did it…

    At first I felt intimidated. Timid ol’ me would be exposing mine own bare loving heart, for others to grab a hold of and cling onto. A free hug is more than just a physical act of kindness, but a spiritual and emotional bond that you form with a random person. We all go through hard times and moments were our despair seems to get the best of us. But then out of no where someone offers you a hug, almost as if given the choice to live.     My friends and I have done this multiple times and its always really fun to see the peoples reactions. The time at the mall we counted our high and total (4 of us) had 67 hugs. It always is so fun

    Im very proud of myself. I have the shirt. I made a sign. Its hard to get free hugs from random people, but its worth it. I think people feel better after they get a random hug. I know i feel better.
