I already have a name for this new company. I actually used to run a company before this but at that time I was doing it with another partner and I lost my passion to continue with that particular project.
This time I am gonna be alone, I will bring someone in, but I think not as a partner. At least not yet.
I already have a name for this new company and this time I hope this is gonna be the one.

I am planning to open a new company soon. Still don’t have much preparation to do it yet. I want to get it done by the end of this month!

I’ve started the filing of business information online. I’m also creating the company website. One of the more difficult things was coming up with a name that I was happy with.

I’m an up and coming web developer with enough knowledge to create a website to a suitable standard, All my work is XHTML 1.1 Validated and CSS is 2.1 Validated.
My friend is a designer and we want to start our own business up.
For a start we need branding and a business plan, any other advice?

ive been taking some business courses. i have been writing a business plan. i have the name, mission statement, office space, and ideals. i am 23, i tend to surround myself with entrepreneurs in their late 50s now. some of them broker major multi-million dollar architectural development and film deals. so i think i have a kinda base understanding of business.
whats nice, is that the service is connection, relationships, and ideas. as a current art student, that is something i can afford.
i decided that my classes were great, but why not put into practice what i am learning. i am also taking web design class and am working on a company website.
its kinda crazy. i work fulltime, go to school fulltime, and now am starting a company up. im kinda super excited. my life is coming together

Onedeveloper, is the name of my company but is not yet registered on Quebec. I am sort of in the middle of this since i been working independently for a while now and the times i had to provide a company name i have used it. I guess, i will consider this goal accomplished when i can live off the earnings generated with it.

When I first added the goal “Start a Company” I envisioned myself doing it alone for a bit before bringing in other people. The current company I’m at, I am technically employee #1 – but my partner is doing most of the “business work” while I’m doing most of the “technical work.” So I’m not sure if it meets this goal.

So,
Starting a company turns out the be the easy part. I’ve been doing now for more than a year. Starting it is easy, really. It’s so fun and inspiring and you get to be so creative.
Everyone starts their company doing what they are already good at, like design, or programming. For me it was genetic testing. But, after a year or so you
1) run out of money
2) realize that you need to know how to do about a gazillion other things, including sales, marketing and financial modeling.
Now most people who have the hutzpah to start a company have the brains and willpower to figure out how to do these other things too. But, almost no one has the raw time or energy to learn how to do all of them fast enough to make the company succeed.
So, you either get lucky, and your company makes/sells something so hot and fantastic that doesn’t need much outside help to kick-start it. Or your background was in sales and marketing and you find some innocent dude with an idea and you help that person grow, taking half the company for yourself.
Otherwise, YOU are the innocent dude, trying to learn how to sell your product, and trying not to get taken by the cruising sales guy. Which means, you hire somebody (stock, cash, whatever) who is going to help you sell the product. You hire the help you need, you hire the expert…and that is a tough process.
