I can do a good stripe or checkerboard pattern easily. I want to work on more complex canes and millifiori. I got the skinner blend down too. and lacing. I want to do the black and white design again using the 90 degree angle this time.
How to learn to work with polymer clay
How I did it: Found books on polymer clay and learned the basic techniques like making canes, simple millifiori, and skinner blends, then just used my own creativity to come up with different designs.
Lessons & tips: The better the tools you use, the better your project will turn out and the less time you'll spend.

Turned out really nice. I gotta send him an email to pick it up. It’s masculine with one mold design down the length of both sides and a herringbone pattern in middle (looks like distorted dots). The center pattern is brushed in bronze and the two side designs are brushed with silver. I added a black string tassle with a base bead and an end bead. Looks GREAT. He’s going to love it. It cost me about $1.50 to make so I would charge $3. Not only is it a fair price (because it took me no time to make) but something like it would probably cost more in the stores. I could see it sold for $5 to $8 in a book store.
The pearl red diamond shaped earrings wrapped in red wire went to Francia.
i made these gorgeous gold and black beads from canes. i also like the kalidoscope effect so i might try that next. :p :)
It’s pretty crappy. I had trouble getting it smooth, but I want to hold on to it to see if I get any better with time.

I would absolutely LOVE to work with polymer clay. I’m always so envious when I see the cute little figurines that people can make. But this really isn’t a priority right now.
Last night I played around with polymer clay for the very first time and made a little plaque with a quote to hang from the mirror in my new car… I used different techniques for it, to practice and get a feel for it… man it takes a while to condition clay by hand!!!! I had fun and am looking forward to my next creation… :-)
This is going really well. So far I’ve made beads, pins, pendants; covered wine glasses, tin boxes, and pens; and begun to really understand this wonderful medium. More to come, I hope…
I’d like to make polyclay anime characters and turn them into keyrings! I can’t wait to get started!
