I Beat My Dad 6 months ago

...for the first time ever. Sure he is 81, has emphysema and blood disease that makes him anemic but I finally beat him at golf. But I may not have fared as well if remembered to bring his oxygen.

    I also tied my brother.

A big key to playing more golf for me is to get some of my best friends and my family hooked on golf. I intend to teach my nephew how to play (he loves baseball), and also a friend from work. I am also going to join the local country club so I can meet a few more golfing buddies that I enjoy

Well, it has been so far. So I might as well keep working on my game. Moving this up because I got out of the habit somehow.

    Consistency 11 months ago

Of course, most people know that you have to be consistent with your shots to really be a good golfer. I was inconsistent with my drive shots, but I have been playing almost everyday, and it is a big improvement. Now I just need to schedule a tee time.

    3 times 12 months ago

I’ve gotten to golf 3 times so far this summer. We’ve just started getting some decent weather so I’m very happy with that number of times.

Time and Rest 19 months ago

I hit a small bucket yesterday. My right elbow is okay, but not perfect. I am going to lay off it for a while. I could play if I needed to, but, of course, such things are optional.

I can work on my short game during the interim.

The good news is my left elbow is feeling quite good.

The good news is that the tennis elbow in my left arm is gone and the tennis elbow in my right arm does not affect my golf swing. The bad news is that after one small bucket at the drving range, my arms, back and shoulders got all torn up. Golf is not a natural movement and a middle aged man needs to re-enter carefully, cautiously and strategically to avoid injury. I hate the aging process, but the worst thing to do is deny its effects.

Last week, out of the blue I shot a 75.
    Previous best was 85.

I didnt do anything different….maybe I was a little calmer…I was wearing a new hat…maybe that was it.
But I just played the way I normally do, I just didn’t seem to do the stupid things like taking 2 shots in a bunker or trying to shoot the ball through a fork in a tree.

I want to have that feeling more often.

I really want to play a lot more. If only the local courses weren’t covered in snow !
