I hear SUCH great things about this breed, and appreciate the fact that there are some dog-like characteristics in its personality and larger size. I know that this cat will ultimately cost me more cat food, but I think it’ll be worth it.

I always wanted a Maine Coon and my husband got me one for my birthday last year! He’s gray tabby colored & such a sweetheart!

Are not meant to be pets…Maybe other Maine Coon cats are nicer…mine was the most ornary cuss you ever did see. I got her as an adult…that might have something to do with it.
Her name was Cindy (whyyy? I don’t know). I’d go to pet her…she’d not only scratch me but bite as well. I’d even come near her…she’d growl….I tried to be nice…I ended up having very little contact with her, just feeding her and staying out of her way….we had our nice moments..where she’d out of the blue come to be petted and curl up purring next to me…..but they were few and far in between…and that’s the way she liked it…
She froze to death. She would take off for a week at a time…she didn’t have another human friend, because she’d come back skinny, bloody, what have you…this cat was a hellion. Well, she took off and never did come back…I found her later frozen to death under the neighbor’s porch….I must say it made me very sad, even though we weren’t really friends.

I had a 1/2 coon and he was the friendliest (and biggest) cat I ever had. They are gorgeous!
