Sorry I missed this on the day – I was too busy being self-absorbed and incredibly sad after leaving Des, her kids and Walt Disney World.

Hope you had an absolutely fabulos birthday!

..and I tried my best to make it as happy as I could, partly by actually being there for a small part of it. I got him a multitude of strange presents that separately were shit but together contributed to a goal (never gift wrap a stapler in public, people look at you as if you’re insane), and a couple of proper fun presents in case the GTD supplies fell flat on their face (“You got me rubber bands?!”), and plied him with wine, muffins, and cuddles. He seems happy, anyway, but you can never tell – the beard makes him very inscrutable.

Thanks for all the help, guys. Like Gertie says, for a bloke who doesn’t normally celebrate his birthday, this year he’s gone global, and that’s quite impressive.

It is still your birthday. I did however forget, but I have 5 minutes to redeem myself. So here goes. Happy birthday Mr Head, you are now as old as me, although I don’t actually know how old you are so i could well be wrong, but it’s the thought that counts anyway. I hope your first birthday in Gateshead is as funfilled as mine was, where there were balloons. I hope you have balloons, and if you don’t here is a poem about balloons.
