How I did it: I was never the sort to blow money on expensive clothes, even when I was younger. A hundred dollars for a pair of jeans is just...sickening. I used to limit my wardrobe to a couple pairs of jeans and a dozen or so pairs of the same plain black t-shirts from walmart. It didn't look great, but it was simple and relatively cheap.
But it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. I started frequenting the neighborhood thrift stores, and its amazing what you can find. For the same price as a plain t-shirt, you can get nice dress shirts, athletic wear, jeans, and pretty much anything else. You can put together outfits that look great for 5-10 bucks.

Another two pieces bite the dust. Also I took photos some of my clothes that I would like to sell, hopefully soon I’ll be able to put them on a website. 2 years ago
I put tho shirts (unworn for many years, not stylish) to a charity box today. Feels good! I’ll keep on cleaning my wardrobe. 2 years ago
Oh, yes. I can dress my kid better than myself :(. Should start decluttering, getting thinner and do shopping (that I really hate). 2 years ago
How I did it: I picked out clothes that I truly liked.. I realised that I have a liking for clothes that truly look feminine... with laces and all.. So I only bought clothes that I like and that looked good on me... Read how I did it… 2 years ago
Ok so I saw this nice blouse 2 days ago with a v-neck line and lace around the neck and at the bottom.. it had stripes on the centre and looked really pretty. I really liked it so much… But I didn’t buy it becoz I thought it wouldn’t look good on me.. So I got back home and was just going on with the other things… Somehow I couldn’t kick the blouse out of my head. I felt so lousy becoz I didn’t buy it. I waited for the day to end and when I woke up yesterday, I still wanted the blouse. I really wonder why I did this to myself. If I really liked it, shouldn’t I have gotten it in the first place? Ok. So I went back to the store yesterday, got the blouse, 2 pieces, one in red and another in pink. I’m wearing it right now and I feel pretty. Very PRETTY. :) 2 years ago
I posted today for the first time in four months! summer dresses and sandals and shorts are making me feel good. yay warm weather!
next step: wear my dresses more, with scarves, and maybe try to find some new tops to wear with shorts. 2 years ago
How I did it: Trying on lots and lots of different styles and being honest with myself. If it doesn't work it doesn't work, that's what makes all of us unique! I picked out colors I know I liked but also look good with my skin (fair). I also did a lot of research on fashion and figured out what looks I like (such as boho chic, or minimalism) and tried to apply it to my body type. Read how I did it… 2 years ago
I love clothes and have been a shloomp for too long, going to start enjoying dressing up again – although this will be out of work lol as have to dress down and comfy for safety reasons 2 years ago
I think I do fairly well with this. I watch What Not to Wear and try to follow the guidance that works for my body type.
It will always be a goal to do better, I think. But I really should replace this one with a goal to go through my wardrobe and repair, clean or give away anything I’m not wearing. 2 years ago
I’m now pregnant and wearing some pretty clothings.. I’ve made it a point to dress up well though I’m pregnant. I don’t want to look like a tired pregnant woman. I think I’ve been doing fine since I’m getting some nice comments on my looks… I also make it a point to use make up and look fresh. I never ever want to look like tired and worn out. I think I already am looking bright and totally fresh. I think with a good match of clothes, shoes, handbag and some make up, any woman can look fabulous. Oh yes, wear that smile and have some faith and confidence in yourself. 3 years ago
I think what I really mean by this, is to have the guts to break out of my rut, stop wearing the same things over and over every day, and have the guts to wear the nice clothes that I already have, and mix them into new combinations. I did a classic sweater-and-collared shirt today, and an oversized cardigan with stripes and orange tights yesterday. maybe I should get my wardrobe remix going again? 3 years ago
Some clothing I bought for the internet have just arrived. Much better. I’m very pleased. I have some clothing for work as well as for my holiday in Egypt. 3 years ago
A couple weeks ago we went on our twice annual trip to the outlet mall. They always have great sales on Memorial Day weekend. My favorite purchase was a new dress and matching white jacket. The first day I wore it to work one my coworkers whistled at me and said from the back he wondered “who was the pretty girl”! Haha. (We are all middle age plus and married for decades so I took it as it was intended, a nice ego boost for me.)
Then my mother-in-law sent a package with a few nice tops for my birthday. She has great taste and everything fit perfectly. Now I just need to go through my closet for purging and repairing. 3 years ago
Is that Lucky-book I keep reading about any good? I guess I could use some guidance… 4 years ago
I have thrown out a ridiculous amount of worn out and ill-fitting clothes lately. And there’s still more to go. Soon I won’t have anything to wear, quite literally. Too bad I have a very limited budget for clothes shopping at the moment. I will have to be superpicky. 4 years ago
For me, it was as easy as really making a concious effort to dress stylishly. I have the clothes, I just work in such a casual environment that it was easy, in the last 3 years, to be more and more and more casual. But I am a designer, for goodness’ sake, and I need to look like it! Plus, I feel so much better about myself when i put as much time into my outfit as I put into hair, makeup, etc. Today, wearing camel colored wool slacks from banana, and a black silk v-neck sweater from banana. and black patent loafers, and a scarf. : ) 4 years ago
today i am wearing a black wool Banana Republic dress I bought at a garage sale! It’s cozy and warm. 4 years ago
To me this means updating as well as simplifying the wardrobe. Fewer but better garments. 4 years ago

I bought THE MOST fabulous wrap top! Now I just need an excuse to wear it. It’s too special for everyday at the office. It’s a first date kinda thing or a night at the theatre… 4 years ago
Not necessarily dress up more, in the high-heels-and-dress sort of way. Just look after myself more – exercise so I’m more toned, take better care of my hair so it always looks good, dress with more care – so that I feel more stylish and more unique in my clothes.
I want to dress so that I’ll feel confident and sophisticated, not embarrassed if I unexpectedly meet someone from my distant past at the supermarket!
