doin' it...? 9 months ago

I trained to be a classical vocalist (and potential opera singer) from the age of 14, but stopped at 18. Tried at 23 and stopped again. This time at the ripe old age of 30 I am ready to take it on. I want to sing; to move and inspire people. So I’m sending in my resume to be considered for an audition with the Opera Chorus in my city, and am auditioning to get into a music program at the university. I’m terrified that I might be too old or too late, but whatever. This is the only life I have that I can remember, so why not go for it.

i live in ak right now 10 months ago

I live to sing. I’ve been doing it since I was 4. I was in college 3 years ago in my senior year and got married and moved to Alaska with my hubs, and we now have three children. When I go back to the lower 48, we will be living off little money while I live out my life dream to be a super star soprano. please pray for me.

when I was 14 i went to see a vocal-coach, and she was thrilled with me. I was a bass-baritone grade 6 off the bat. But, since then I’ve done nothign with it.

recently i’ve started singing again, and I have a bit of a band with a friend of mine. but it’s not really enough. it’s haunted me that i gave it up, when with the years that have passed’s worth of training, i could be a full-on opera singer right now.

I just want to sing, loud and in front of an audience. any suggestions???

Oh how I want to sing opera and I know I have the voice for it. Sometimes when I practice my voice I can come out with real amazing notes. But I cannot sing a whole song in opera because then my voice shatters. It’s so bad. I want help. Do you know any singing tricks and exercise?

Still in voice lessons! Loving them very much. I find they’re giving me a lot of confidence. I’m having some problems with the breathing and projecting my voice… But, I’m definitely way better from when I started.

I’m pretty certain that I’m going to continue taking them next year… but not exactly sure.

perfoming in an opera 2 years ago

When I was younger I used to sing at Lincoln Center and it was the greatest experience in my life. Although it could be difficult juggling school and work it was definetly worth it and I encourage every one to start singing opera. Singing opera also helps you with learning new languages because you are used to singing in different languages beside english although the contempory operas are mostly in english.
