i can’t wait to get started on this project for my baby cousin arriving in december. i hope i get done in time.
How to knit a baby blanket
How I did it: I borrowed a book from my sister called Stitch 'n Bitch: The Knitters Handbook and I learned in just a day or two how to knit. A week later I learned how to "purl" and in the back of the book is a pattern to make a baby blanket. It took me two months to complete it (I have four kids so spare time is limited), but when I did it was awesome! I've made three and I'm working on my fourth now. They get better with every one you do.
Lessons & tips: Keep practicing. Your first one may not come out perfect but your second one is sure to! ;)

I stopped knitting at the end of my pregnancy because my hands were too hot and swollen! But I’m going to finish the blanket this month.

It took three weeks of not-so-dilligent work, but I finally finished the blanket. It’s not perfect – the edges are a little sloppy, and it’s not exactly the dimensions I wanted it to be – but it still looks pretty good, and hopefully the family (and new baby) will like it. I finished it on Sunday, the last day of the Euro cup, so I even made my goal, too! On to my next project. I don’t know what it’s going to be yet, but I want a little more of a challenge.

My friends had their baby on Tuesday and Euro Cup ends next weekend so I’m trying to work really hard to finish up the project. I think I’m just about 1/2 way done, which doesn’t bode well for my original goal, but I’m going to try and devote more time to it over the next few days and hopefully I can pull it off!

Every time there’s a soccer tournament on TV (Euro Cup or World Cup) I start a knitting project so that I don’t feel terrible about watching up to 5 hours of tv a day. And this year I decided to make a baby blanket for my friends. They are due some time this week, so I definitely won’t be done when the baby is, but I’ll try and have it finished before the end of the Euro Cup.
I finished knitting my daughter’s blanket just before she was born, and I even knitted a blanket for my aunt’s baby. Unfortunately, that one didn’t get finished until she was a couple months old. I love doing these projects but the finer yarn takes so much longer to finish.
I started my baby blanket a couple of weeks ago and now I’m almost halfway done!

and I saw the cutest blanket I could knit for her. I just need to know the sex of the baby so that I can choose some colors.
