hippie1427 Is going to be uber productive this year

a never ending barage 3 months ago

I have done the iron on patches for the jeans that needed it, we’ll see how that works, and I still need to hem up 1 pair of pants, need to break out the machine for that. but then, alas, more items that need hand sewn have already let themselves be known. but I really have made massive progress on this.

    how to... 4 months ago

I’ve hand stitched everything I can, except one sock with holes in it (yes, I sew up socks. I prefer they are reduced to smithereens before they become rags) I have one pair of pants that need hemmed up with the machine, and about 6 pairs of jeans that need some iron on patches inside to help hold them together a little longer, until they are ready to become skirts/shorts

that’s how long it’s been since I last completed this goal, and now it is back in a big way. Lots of stuff in the pile that needs just a bit of this or that. I’m ready. Bring it On!

another “to mend” pile has formed. So now I will be working on getting it dwindled down again.

KatheD is starting to think there may be time to accomplish something

I WAS done 11 months ago

Just last week I shortened a tank dress into a tank top, increased the darts in two blouses that were too large across the back, and eliminated two makeover projects by donating them to Goodwill. I was so excited that I cut out pattern pieces for a new dress and decided on two additional dresses for the next projects. The next day I took a sundress out of the closet to wear to the office (with a jacket, of course) and found the shoulder seem coming apart. :( Is mending ever truly done? If I wait long enough, I won’t care about sundresses for several months, but it will be hanging on the mending rack making me feel like a slacker…

    Getting there 11 months ago

The shirt and the tank top are done, just need to do the jeans now!

Done mending for now. 12 months ago

I am going to mark this as done. I think everything has been fixed. As I clean up I’ll start to put together another “to mend” pile. Then I’ll have to add this goal again :)

Just waiting for me 12 months ago

One of my favorite pairs of jeans and tank top have rips in them. It should be easy to sew up, I just need to find the time to do it.

    new technique 13 months ago

for hemming is proving v. handy – actually critical – for a short-statured person. a batch of 2nd hand pants have become nearly instantly wearable and expanded the wardrobe tremendously – without much cost. and who are these people with legs 6 in. longer than me?
