Well, I haven’t succeeded at this, did it for 4 days and then… The most challenging are… surprise, surprise… days off. When I’m somehow most unconscious. Or maybe there are no such established routines for most of the time like it is in working days. But another thing is that it also could be too much. Well, I’m going to start again. This time I will divide this goal into smaller, more manageable goals: 1 month of Before Bed Routine, 1 month of Morning Routine, and 1 of After Work/ Afternoon Routine.
Starting today: 17 November – 17 December.
And I will try and focus more on solving my days off confusion. Well, maybe I should make it another goal? 3 years ago
Went ok, although I had to remind myself that I’m going through the 30 days trial, I’m so busy that it becomes easy to forgot, I hope I will form a habit soon that I will not have to remind myself again and again. But for now that’s ok, I’m forming the habit, that’s my job now to remind myself and I’m ok not remembering it at times. 3 years ago
My first day was kind of easy – it’s my day off so I could take my time and focus on the tasks, although I sometimes feel that too much time could lead to carelessness and side-tracking, which didn’t happened today, but I think I could have done it quicker. But then again, it’s my first day and I think it could be advantages to take my time and do it well. Anyway, I’m glad the first day is over. 3 years ago

I’m giving it another go. Decided to cut everything that is not essential. I’m going to write about my progress here. Starting 8 of November, on Sunday morning with my Morning Routines 3 years ago
Today I’m starting my 30 day of forming habits: do all 3 Flylady Routines: Morning Routine, After Work Routine and Before Bed Routine. I’m very excited. 3 years ago
How I did it: I found FlyLady several years ago. She has a system for making a nice home, which I guess most women know about, but I really didn't, as my mother had a lot of problems medically and emotionally and then died while I was still in school. I just didn't get the guidance other girls had, plus I do also have that easily distracted, creative personalty that she writes about. So I suffered from serious CHAOS, or Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome!
I had been 'fluttering' on and off for years. I found myself so happy when I got rid of a lot of junk. FlyLady talks about not keeping anything unless we love it, and I really purged a lot. The hardest was *several boxes* full of cards, letters, photos and stuff of people from my past, but due to her sensible system of 15 minutes at a time, I got everything down to a *couple of files and an large envelope* of photos and cards of those I still love today. Sometimes I could only do 5 minutes at a time, but finally, all that stuff that I dragged around was gone! What a blessing! And this is just one example of how great this is, but I never would apply the system totally, but wanted to.
When I joined 43 things, I saw an opportunity to really focus on this goal. So I just started every day with the simple things, such as shine my sink at night, and would do some of the assignments. Then I started doing them all, and it really doesn't take that long if I do it first.
Then I just started adding the morning and evening routines and started a Control Journal. Now I just look at something and realize it will just take a minute to do and do it. I don't always have to be 'prompted' by her missions. I also break down her Monday Home Blessing into smaller bits during the weekend.
I love my clean home!
Another thing I really like about her emails is that women will write in about the stuff they faced growing up, and how it affects them today as adults, and using the system to overcome that. We don't blame our families of origin, but we don't have to live like them either. There is indeed all kinds of clutter, and some women have body clutter, excess weight, and attitudes that can be healed and end up empowering us instead of hurting us. We don't have to hoard, live in messiness and fear, or disrespect ourselves in any way.
FLY means Finally Loving Yourself. I love that! Read how I did it… 4 years ago
I’m really working on this one, but boy is it hard! I’ve made it my big challenge, and I’m glad, cause I’m really thinking about it, and focusing.
I realize to do this, I have to prioritize more, and do the unpleasant thing first—another goal I have here.
I really so want this, cause I know when I do it, I am so happy, but when I don’t, and give in the the voice that says play, I am happy short-term but very unhappy in the long run. That enough will eventually keep me on the right track here. 4 years ago
This is going to be my next big challenge after I finish the ‘don’t blurt anything out’ one. I’m almost done with that one, so this will be soon. I’ll give myself six weeks to do it.
Because I do some things, but I really do want to do it all, and if I make it Front and Center, I will. Part of me craves routines, and part always wants to play. I know I will feel so good if I do this, and there are other parts that naturally come from it, such as meal planning and financial soundness. 4 years ago
that some of my goals are related: playing too much on the net and not doing FlyLady are related!
Also procrastinating, too tired to floss teeth at night… 4 years ago
I want to do this more regularly. I find that FlyLady routines have helped a lot, and want to take it to a higher level. Progress, tho, not perfection! 4 years ago
Well, my habits are easier, but they’re definitely not ingrained. I think I’m at a pretty good point with my morning routine and shining my sink at night. The rest of my evening routine still needs practice. It’s coming slowly but surely. 5 years ago
I keep falling off of the FlyLady wagon. I would start it and my house would look so awesome. But then I would take a quick break from it during the weekend and then all of a sudden the routines are out the window. My house is still in chaos.
But tomorrow is a new day. And as you know, we get a good start by doing the evening routine. So as soon as my youngest is asleep I will be finishing up my evening routine. 5 years ago
I guess my habits were more enforced than I thought. Once I finally got started, it’s coming easier than it used to. As Flylady says, babysteps, babysteps…. 5 years ago
Why is it that I start making good habits and progress and then I get sick? So frustrating… Anyway, most of my progress is out the window, so I’m going back to babystep 1…again…
Must…keep…sink…shiny! 5 years ago
Good habits are building. :) Now I’m working on one of the hardest of them all for me. Getting to sleep at a decent hour. I’m making myself at least get off the computer by 11pm. If I can’t sleep, then I can only read in bed. 5 years ago
While I’m a little behind the holiday cruising missions, I’m so much farther ahead of where I usually am at this time of year. My sink is usually shiny, and my hotspots are less hot. I’m sorry though, I just don’t get the dressed to shoes bit. I’m a barefoot girl and that’s all there is to it. 5 years ago
Okay so the word “done” is relative but I can say with a clear conscience that 85% of the daily missions are things that I already do or have done so take that flylady and your repetitive emails. Okay that was a bit cocky but I feel good about having a relatively clutter free house and while I’d like to find a way to organize my chores this isn’t working out for me. In fact I feel more stressed now that I’m staying home. I think I may just use a simple calender listing daily chores to help me feel like I’m doing something around here besides taking naps with my baby and watching tv (which I’ve been doing a whole lot of). Is it normal to always feel so guilty? 5 years ago
For someone whose platform is getting rid of clutter, her emails are a bit counterproductive. 5 years ago
I’m a few days late as usual. However, I printed out my Holiday Control Journal today. I’m going to try to catch up with the holiday missions tomorrow.
I’ve also decided that I need a fresh start, so I’m going to begin the beginner’s babysteps tomorrow as well. Tomorrow my sink will be shiny! 5 years ago
haven’t done the system in months and months…but yesterday i found my feather duster and it made me happy and want to do flylady again! god knows i need her, my room is a disaster right now :/ 5 years ago
I’ve been doing them a few days late, but I am keeping up with my zones. Better late than never.
Kitchen is slowly improving…. Babysteps, babysteps… 5 years ago
as i am now living in a small corner at my family’s house, i won’t have as much to upkeep as i used to, but because it’s not my house, it’s even more important that i keep it clean! i want to make me living there as easy as possible…..for everyone involved!! i need to look for my control journal asap :) 5 years ago
I’ve been FLYing on and off, but never doing a great job. As FLYlady says, baby steps, baby steps. I have a basic control journal, but I need to update it, and I’ve been doing pretty good with zone cleaning every week.
I’m going to start from the begining again and work on keeping the kitchen sink shiny as my main goal for right now. 5 years ago
started doing flylady again yesterday and shined my sink :) i really need to get some routines down if i wanna be able to handle working and doing school fulltime….but i woke up and smiled, my sink was nice and shiny this morning :) and there were no clothes on the floor that i tripped over this morning, i filled out my bodyclutter investigator, AND i actually packed my lunch last night and got everything ready for this morning! all i hadta do was make my sandwich…it was really sooo nice not rushing around trying to do everything this morning, and it feels nice that i’m not gonna spend over $5.00 every day for a sandwich! that adds up quickly….wow that’s $100 a month! at LEAST….wow, okay i’m really glad i’m starting flylady again, i really miss how together my life was when i was doing her program. 6 years ago
starting today….i’m starting over, and i’m really gonna do it! i want to get a headstart on my new years resolutions :) i’m shining my sink tonight :) 6 years ago
