How I did it: Downloaded the Blurb.com software which is free. Went through all my photos of Douglas and picked out those I would use (about 400 of them!) Then it was just a matter of picking out themes for the pages, culling the photos I would use in each theme and building the book. Read how I did it… 18 months ago

I am sooooo stoked!! I finished “A year with Douglas” last night, put it up on Blurb and ordered a copy for the Beautiful T as a Christmas present.
What an achievement!! I feel so GOOD, proud of my work.
Thank you Blurb.com for such a brilliant book making tool. I love you to pieces guys.
I am so inspired by what I have achieved with ‘A year with Douglas’ that I am already planning my next coffee table book project which will be called …. D1&D2 and be a book about our two dogs, Douglas and Desmond.
Then there is all that macro photography I have done and the A-Z photographic project I did ages ago, and what about L’s wedding photos and ….?? Yes, I can see that Blurb and I are going to become very good friends. 18 months ago

Wow, I have nearly done it! I have been working hard all last week while the Beautiful T is away in Bali and I am now doing the final layout of the book. I have some great shots and have learned a lot about putting a coffee table book together. Can’t wait to get it published and sent to me in time for Christmas.
I have put some blank pages in the book and just added a few doggie quotes here and there. I have a quote about how a tennis ball is a dogs most prized possession and yesterday I took an awesome photo of Douglas with the ball.
It is such a good feeling to see the coffee table book project coming to completion. 18 months ago

November already and I haven’t done anywhere near as much as I would have liked to on this project.
The Beautiful T is off in Bali once again for 2 weeks and I really am pushing a deadline now. The publishers are saying that the latest you can submit a book and have it printed for Christmas is 15 Dec.
I would like to have this finished by 20 Nov. I have to have it finished by then because TBT will be back and I will not have the freedom to work on A year with Douglas again.
I have laid down all the photos I am going to use and now I just need to cull some back. There are 260+ images…. makes for a pretty big coffee table book, but I know that the book should be only around 60-100 pages max to avoid repetition.
The most difficult part is choosing the photos to take out. This is such an emotional thing. I love all the pictures of our little pooch.
The good thing is that I’m inspired and encouraged now that I have all the images in the pages. I feel confident that I will have this done before 20 Nov and by middle of Dec a beautiful book will be delivered in the post ready for TBT’s Christmas surprise. 18 months ago

I feel like I am falling behind on this project. I want to keep it a secret from the Beautiful T so I don’t get much time to work on it. Having said that, I am about to be given a bonus… The Beautiful T is going to Bali for a week and I will have the evenings to myself and will be able to knuckle down and get so much done.
I will miss the Beautiful T, but I will enjoy working on ‘A Year With Douglas’. 2 years ago
