How I did it: Saved some money, went to the apple store online and bought a MacBook. As a student, I got a 12% discount, which made it barely more expensive than a PC. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I looked for a while, but I didn't have time to save properly before my PC died completely. So left without a computer I COULD have gotten a cheap PC, but decided that it was much better to hold out for the Mac!! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I bought my MacBook last summer and got a free printer and free iPod Touch with it. I already had a pretty new printer, so I sold my new one to my Mom. What a great deal! I even had to go back to the store because I decided I wanted the MacBook Pro instead of the smaller black Macbook. I'm a photographer, so I wanted the 15" screen so I could see photos that I'm editing. I also like the matte screen better th… Read how I did it…

Macs. Some say they’re only for pretentious snobs who’re simply not smart enough to use Windows, and as a result shell out an extra 1000 Euro’s/Dollars to get a Mac, because Apple claims Macs are ‘easier and safer’ to use, even though you can get the same kind of hardware with Windows for a much cheaper price.
And the people who say this are absolutely right. Most Mac users are pretentious snobs who’re…well you get the idea.
But some of those users aren’t. Some of them have been using Windows for years, and are just fed up with it: The driver errors, the slow performance, viruses and spyware and the nightmares of getting everything clean again (or at least trying to until you give up and format your hard drive…again).
And then you know there’s a better alternative. A system where the hardware Just Works™ (well most of the time), where there’s nearly no spyware to be seen, and where developers actually make great useful software, because they actually give a shit.
And that’s basically why I’d like to have a Mac. I mean, I’ve been using Windows for over 16 years now, (And I’m only 21! Go figure!) and I think I’ve experienced enough to say that I really could use some change of scenery on my desk, even though it’s going to cost me a fortune.
Apparently, that’s just the price of getting a good computer, but I’d just say you’re getting ripped off because some people think the mere image of an Apple on your computer is worth a 1000 Euro’s…
It does look pretty though…

I own an iPOD, like the rest of the planet, but as far as computers go, it has only been PCs. I love computers and gadgetry in general, so even though my PCs serve their purpose, I am always drawn to Apple computers. I have never owned one, but cannot tell you how many times I’ve gone to the Apple website just to pine over the laptops, big screen monitors and powerhouse desktops, placed items in my shopping cart and just left them there because I couldn’t afford to get everything I wanted. It makes my heart ache to stare at the new aluminum MacBooks but not hold one. There’s just something about them. Perhaps it’s because they were the computers we had in school, perhaps it was all the bright cheery colors of the old iBooks and iMacs that always captured my attention and what I miss even today, though I never got the chance to own one. It could be all of the images of creative people using Apple computers to further their artistic abilities. Truth be told it’s all of the above.
I’m kind of waiting for my current Dell lappie to die so I can indulge in a Mac. I realize learning a new interface will take time and patience, but I love the look of Macs and features.
Someone told me that waiting for the new macs to come out will make the price of the “old” ones lower… well I did that annnnnd I saved €600 and I bought a kick-ass MAC BOOK PRO!!! Ha!
Plus I checked the details of the new mac book pro and honestly, apart from the great new design, the slight change is not worth paying more than €1900 for a computer.
I can’t wait to receive it, i’ve been waiting for so many years to have one!
The problems:
1) I always want, the best of the best
2) I can’t decide on which one I should want
That means I have to choose between 8core macpro, 15inch 4gb macbookpro, 24inch mac
3) Say, I have decided which mac I want, then, should I buy it now? I’m also working on a startup(who isn’t) and might need the money for that.

I would love one of those Mac Pros, I’m a PC user but I know that Macs are great for stuff like video editing and such, the Pro is a little expensive with all the bells and whistles added on, but I’m definitely going to get one when I’ve saved up!
Woohoo… my 43rd thing!
scottyhbomb giving up
i bought a Mac out of necessity… after 8 years of being a hardcore Mac Hater, 2 years of dragging my heels because Apple acquired eMagic (creators of Logic Audio) and impatiently waiting for the PowerMac to arrive through UPS Ground (the slowest shipping available) i had my first Mac.
I fell in love with this thing, gave away all of my PC’s …. and even eventually became the manager for a Apple Computer Reseller Store.
Needless to say, worth it.
