Become a special education teacher

I take the practice certification test this weekend. If I do well enough, I can take the test for real within the next two weeks.
Add that to observation, which I hope to complete in April, and I could be seeking an internship/job within a few months.

im 17 and have wanted to do this sence i was in 3rd grade!

I’m in a certification program that starts next month. If I do well there, and I will, I take a certification test then do an internship.

I really want to teach a class for children with autism. Graduation is this spring and then it’s time for graduate school. It’s right around the corner!

These kids are the most awsome human beings ever! They are sweet, loving and know how to have a good time! I’m in a club called best buddies, and it has been so rewarding! I’d love to become a teacher to these kids!

I have been driving a special ed school bus for over 6 months now and have been interested in psychology, neuro-science, ect forever. I started (many times!)college and did quite well. It’s just seems the timing is always wrong. This is my long term goal though and I know I will make it someday!

At an alternative school for pregnant or parenting teens. It looks like an opportunity to really make a difference. Hooray! I just hope I like it as well as I liked my other school. I’m still sad to have left that one.

I have an interview with a school for teen mothers- it sounds very nice and very interesting. I also have some observations set up at some other middle schools- Prospects look good, but I still miss my first assignment- alas. I just hope I like the kids at the new place as well as the old.

I got my certificate about 8 months ago. I have been subbing in these few months. I got a job and was supposed to start working today…but fate is cruel…let’s not get into that…

I love being a special education teacher. My favorite memory so far is a little 1st grade girl said hello to me in the lunch room. I worked with her almost everyday for 4 months, then couple times a month when I subbed at her school. She was completely non-responsive. Then one day, she jumped in front of me and said Hello! I was so happy, surprised, and excited, I almost forgot to pay for my lunch! Of course, since then, she was so busy giggling and sharing stories with me that I had a hard time to keep her on task.

Now, I just need to get a job…in Canada?
