..and by that i think this goal is as good as done. Having some kind of data plan seems necessary, else half of the this phone’s potential remain unfulfilled. With EDGE, browsing is a breeze and extremely handy. I was able to get my return flight booking nbr as soon as i realized that i left the printout at home. Even managed to catch up on cheers while we stood around waiting for our ride down Penang hill. Not bad.. Pleased as cheese..

Well, not exactly. My phone has edge now. Am evaluating the Smartmail from Digi. I installed IM+, a mobile chat client so I can chat with my yahoo buddies. Browsing is superbly fast, am actually typing this on my E65. My only complaint, the battery only last one day now. May need to start carrying my charger around.
One more reason to love my mobile service provider, DIGI. They’ve invited us to test their Smartmail offering, which is essentially push mail on mobile phones. There’ll be 10 users for the initial evaluation, if this goes well, we’ll discuss the packages and see what they plan to offer us. If they can offer a substantial discount for the EDGE plan unlimited use, then my Nokia E65 will be smoking on all cylinders.. :D
My network admin gave me an IP address which can bypass the proxy to browse out to the Internet. That did the trick, I can now browse using my handphone via the office Wifi connection. I imagine it’s handy when I’m stuck in dull meetings without my Thinkpad. :)
Finally got this running, using a trial version of AgileMobile. It took me a long time to actually find the right installer for the Nokia E65. Luckily, I stumbled upon SymbianGear.com . Everything that plays nice with the E65 is listed there, including a trial version of Lotus Sametime. I’ll test that at the office later, as soon as I configure the wifi to connect to my office WLAN.
The trial version for AgileMobile is only 7 days. Weirdly enough, the official site didn’t include information on purchasing or registering. Then again, I’m still hoping to get a free mobile chat client from my service provider. Just as soon as I find the time to actually drop by one of their service centers.
Setting up AgileMobile was very simple, unlike the frustrating ordeal that was the native IM client on the phone itself. The manual doesn’t help either, trust me.. I read it.
All in all, am pleased with the outcome. I don’t think I’m a chat junkie, but getting it to work is indeed very satisfying.
I wanted to see if playing videos on the Nokia E65 was a good option. My mission involved downloading a video off YouTube, save as avi, convert as 3gp and transfer to the Nokia E65 memory card. The whole process took a while but I was successful! And instead of downloading converters, I found an online site which made things so much easier, http://vixy.net/. Seen above is the end result, featuring MCR’s latest video, I Don’t Love You. Nice.. :)
- figure out how to use mobile chat
- decide if mobile email is worthy
- explore if playing video on the E65 is possible
- get some cool and addictive games (I love word games like Text Twist and maybe see if I can get one on Sudoku)
- learn about widsets (I think they’re widgets for mobile phones)
- make wifi work when I’m at the office (this is not necessary but I’ll be eternally pissed with myself if I don’t give it a decent try)
- try out wireless printing
Now if only it can help me lose some weight too.. :P
