I got a rice cooker…add 2-3 cups of rice, add water until its about 1/4 inch above the rice and press cook…10min later open and stir. voila!

Of Course I know how to cook rice! It’s one of the first few things we learn how to do.

One part rice, two parts water, 1/2 to 1 teaspoon salt per cup of rice. Bring to a boil, stir, cover with tight fitting lid, turn heat down to low, cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Fluff with fork and eat!

EDIT: I’m speaking of long grain white rice, above. Brown rice would be 1 part rice, 2 1/2 parts water, and 1 teaspoon salt per cup of rice, boil, stir, cover, simmer about 45 minutes.

perfect rice easy peasy!! 2 years ago

put good oil in saucepan. add rice. stir on moderate heat until approximately 1/3 of grains have turned opaque. add water to top of rice, then same amount again (ie double amount of water as rice). crank heat, stir lightly ‘til boiling. drop heat to low as you can go and place firm fitting lid. SIMMER like this for approximately 10 minutes. take a look. all water should be gone, u have cooked fluffy rice. return lid & allow to sit for 5-10 minutes to just perfect that fluffiness & there u have it!!
once you get the first part down (it seems fiddly at first), it’s a lay down misere!! the last 10 or 15 minutes it just looks after itself & as long as the flame/ heat is right u can’t really fiu!!! YUM YUM it tastes a little nutty the true flavour of rice!! Good luck.

it’s so much easier to use my rice cooker. And the rice is always cooked ALL THE WAY THROUGH when I use my rice cooker. It’s not worth the hassle to do it otherwise.

Invest is a cheap rice cooker, cook the rice and then add the seasonings. Trust me. ;-)

Mmmmmm… just know that jasmine and long-grain rices require different amounts of water.

I’ve done this with various different kinds of rice. I love rice. Who can’t cook rice?

yakuza who has missed me?

I have a rice cooker 4 years ago

I guess the majority of Asians do though. I have cooked rice in a pot before though too. That’s much much harder.
