How I did it: I planted in 3 growing seasons, in containers and on the small bit of land we have for gardening. I asked my co-workers for advice, I read websites, I talked to the farmers at my local farmers market. I did minimal weeding. I watered when I needed too, but most of the time I tried to plant crops that work in my garden zone. I wasn't afraid to make mistakes. (Sometimes the mistakes you make make the best stories!)

My plants are flowering and I am anticipating to harvest in about 3 weeks. Very exciting! I built a raised garden with some additional lumber. (Note: Found out the hard way that treated lumber is not a good idea) Then, took a trip to a friend’s horse ranch for some fertilizer ;) Finally I bought about 10 bags of top soil from Lowes and planted some very young plants. Overall it was about a $40 investment. I am keeping my fingers crossed. 5 years ago
