To further my previous point, words from our wise chairman, Freddy Shepherd:

“Yes, I once said I’d leave when the club won its first Cup under my chairmanship but well, the Intertoto doesn’t count. Anyway, it’s not even a cup, it’s glass!”

So there you have it, even the chairman agrees with me. Our search for a proper trophy continues…

Apparently we are now the official winners of the Intertoto Cup, having got further than all of the other winners in the UEFA Cup.

To win this trophy, we have outlasted such European giants as Kayserispor, NK Maribor, SV Ried, and Ethnikos Achnas FC.

There’s also going to be an open-top bus tour, so I’ve heard, as the club believes it would be disrespectful to the competition otherwise.

Thank god we didn’t lose it though. That would have been embarrassing.

A Geordie through the bloodline, mainly my psychotic grandfather got me into supporting Newcastle United- it was really easy to do because he was so passionate about them and took me to games. When I went up to the Toon for the first time I just couldnt believe the atmosphere- absolutley amazing. If only there were a few more Shearers lying about the place. I shall be wearing the black n white stripes as well as the three lions when on tour in germany this summer.

I was complaining to someone once about how Newcastle never won anything, and they said ‘why don’t you just support a different team?’. You probably think that’s just one major typo, so I’ll say it again and prove it wasn’t just coincidence. They said: ‘why don’t you just support another team’. I turned and walked away.
