live in a space that does not touch anyone else's space (i.e. apartment)

I don’t like hearing noise while I’m in my home that comes from someone other than me. Neighbors and roommates alike. I have had fantastic roommate situations and also great neighbors, but I’m ready to have a place where no one pounds on my floor/ceiling and neither do I. I get very grumpy when my sleep or quiet time is disturbed.
