How to get organized and Stay organized! by x_lau_x

How I did it:
[sorry, for my bad English]

I'm the kind of person that is pretty organized but somehow I can never find something back and I can't keep my room clean =S.
Like after I cleaned and tidied it up.. it only stays that way for a few days.

But I think I finally managed now to get organized (without loosing my own stuff) and stay organized.

How I did it..
Well.. I cleaned up my room.. that wasn't too hard to accomplish. I just organized my stuff.. it were manly papers, I sort them out threw some away and filed the others.

For me the hardest part was.. still a little bit is.. to keep my room clean and organized.. But I know how to do this now.
I think it's all about laziness.. well.. for me it is.. like.. for example when I have some papers I just put them down my desk.. with the thought of: 'I have to look at them some time again'.. that.. x10.. you can start over cleaning up your hole room again.

So.. I tried to stop being lazy.. and started to give.. papers whatever.. a good place straightaway.. so that  there couldn't start this huge store of papers at my desk and my room stayed organized =].

Lessons & tips:

  • When you see something that doesn't belong there.. tidy it up straigtaway.. Don't let your room get messy.. It will take you a lot more time to clean up your hole room again.. then when you've already cleaned up the little things that are making your room messy.
  • Save your belongings at one place.. a logical one.. When you forget where you've put something it's easier to find it back.. and you don't have to turn the hole house upside down cause you've saved everything at one place.

    I have realized that when you live in your brother’s basement with a pool table top being your dresser… organization can be quite difficult…. as well as the fact that I share my room with two cats that aren’t allowed to roam the house…. food & water, litter box, clothes everywhere, toiltries stacking on shelves a bed night stand coats shoes…. oh what a mess… and how much I miss my apartment and it’s place for everything…

    Good news, it wasn’t gnomes. I’m not having a lot of fun, but I have found some long lost personal items, including my favorite sweater. I really ought to get back to work though. I’ll just remind myself that the end result is worth it.

    My Dad got me a really neat book about organization. I read some of it, then lost it. I lost my book on organization. Hopefully, while I’m decluttering stuff, I’ll find it, but I swear gnomes are stealing all my stuff.

    I finally can check this goal off… of course, I can’t say much about STAYING organized, but if I keep going like I am right now, it will all be fine. I’ve really taken my schoolwork seriously lately, I make sure that I have everything I need in the evening, and I carefully plan everything out to take some stress away. So far, I haven’t missed any work or had any uncompleted homework, and, as a reward, I can already see my mid-semester report card with a bunch of high nineties!
    I have even gotten my ass off of this comfy chair and applied for a job, which I managed to get. So now I have high marks, more free time for my friends, boyfriend, and family…AND money.
    What more could I ask for? :D
    Work really does pay off. And getting organized was a HUGE part of it!
