How to set up FLYlady routines"I struggled for a year until I finally realized part of FLYing was setting up routines that worked for me, my family and my lifestyle instead of trying to make my life fit Flyladies routines"
How I did it: I had an AhhHaa moment when I was trying to once again to add Flylady's weekly plan to my 2009 calendar around all my family's activities. I realized that I had already fallen into a weeky plan naturally. So I wrote down the days of the week and what I usually do on them. Next I listed what I did with my morning and evenings before and after work. Then I compared what I was accomplishing regularly in my routine to the tasks on Flylady's routines and weekly plan. I crossed off those items I had covered and added those I was missing in timeslots that made the most sense to me. Lessons & tips: Perfection is about trying to make who you naturally are fit into someone else's mold. Loving yourself is about accepting who you are, respecting your natural rhythm and adpating a good idea to fit you. Resources: www.flylady.net

How I did it: I had been in a 'don't want to do anything' state of mind for a while, and my house had suffered, so I signed for all the emails (tons!) and started doing them. It took me a couple of weeks and my house started looking good again. I have slowly reverted back to just cleaning the way I always did, and am going to stop all those tons of emails, but it motivated me when I needed it. Read how I did it…

Hestia74 is building up on my FLYlady routines...
I think I have an overly complex morning routine… it takes me about two hours to do it all… I think that’s too much! Of course, I’m eight months pregnant, and can’t move as fast as before, but even if I weren’t pregnant, it would still take me a lot of time. I have to wake up at around 5:30am in order to finish in time to start the day.

The FLYlady is always telling members that the Control Journal is a key tool to the Flylady routine/system. During the past few months I was able to implement some routines as I said before, but somehow I felt that I was not getting the gist of it. So last night, I decided to go full steam ahead, and dust my Control Journal, tweak it, update it, and start using it, this time for good!
Today I was able to complete most of my morning routine, except the 20-minute walk, since it was already over 9am by the time I finished the rest, and the sun here is too strong by then. I didn’t do most of the tasks I set myself out to do today on my personal planner, but I’m still satisfied because I was able to pull off most of the morning routine (which is kind of long). I keep remembering “baby steps”...

however it seems that I kinda fell off around day 12. I do manage to keep my sink shining most days.

I have been a member of the FLYlady website for over a year now, and even though I have been able to establish quite a few useful habits (doing a load of laundry a day, drinking enough water everyday, wearing lace up shoes, making the bed every morning) I still have a long way to go. It’s been uphill, and in part it’s because I had the wrong attitude… I’ve been seeing household chores as, well, chores, instead of as an opportunity to show my gratitude everyday for all that I have. Just that little shift in attitude is starting to make a big difference.

I guess I’ll need two separate routines: one for normal days and one that covers the bare minimum for those insanely busy weeks!

This hass gotta get done !
I’m gonna put everything back in the wardrobe and empty all spaces then re-start to put things where they need to go… this way the gunk n junk gets binned or given away once n for all.
Thank God for a huge walk in wardrobe I’m gonna use for this purpose.
Yep thats what I’m gonna do this weekend… Re-Start !

I’m beginning to feel more in control now … although I have help from Princess my mum’s carer too God bless her ; )
I have now got the kitchen under control the bathroom still needs control which I’m working on… and upstairs hallway.
The ‘BILLS’ are now being organised as a serious issue and are coming under control with payment plans coming into place … Please God help me to be debt free I beg your help in this matter.
