My grandmother, Jean Weinbaum, lived with Crohn’s for over 70 years before passing on last December. Myself, I have colitis and IBS, so I know firsthand how debilitating these conditions can feel. I dedicated my donation to my grandmother, and I hope she would be pleased with that. 6 years ago

Just over a year ago I was donating to Happy Phantom’s bike ride for this cause, and this year I’ve upped the ante with my donation to SEGSID’s walk.

Colitis runs on my paternal side. All of my father’s sisters have it as does one of his brothers. I myself have irritable bowel syndrome which is a less severe form of the disease. A good friend of mine has Crohn’s and is on disability because of it. These diseases not only make a person uncomfortable, but can really impact the quality of one’s life.

I encourage everyone to give a couple dollars if you can because this is a worthy cause that doesn’t get a lot of funding like the big ones do (cancer, AIDS, etc.). 6 years ago
