Hm. Okay. This plan may not work out as previously laid out, but no worries! Basically, I reevaluated the situation and determined that I would go fucking crazytown if I had to take three language classes on TOP of the summer work I’m already doing. Instead, I’m tackling this goal as a normal person might, and signing up for French at Wellesley. A class per semester. I’m still excited. It’s still going to happen. And if not, I’ll just listen to nothing but Carla Bruni and Francoise Hardy until it does.

je parle un peu... 1 month ago

I started learning French when I was really young – it was required at my school in Australia – but gave it up when I moved to America. Which has always made me sad, because I know I was on track to become fluent. Anyway, before transferring to Wellesley this fall, I’m taking three (!!!) French classes over the course of six weeks (!!!!!!!) in the summer. It’ll be my first time taking French in seven years.

foreign language requirement 13 months ago

Since I studied it before (a good year’s worth), I figure it would be the easiest language for me to re-learn in order to meet the foreign language requirement for my bachelor’s degree. Although ideally I would wanna learn Polish…

4 years of french in HS 14 months ago

took 4 years of french in high school, granted one year was a retake,I can’t even count to 10 now (graduated uni 2 years ago, so about 6 years since).

I went to France last year, resorted to all english, so when I go back next year, I want to be semi fluent.

Yes, again. 16 months ago

I took French at the same time as Spanish, big mistake. Now I’m using Coffee Break French on iTunes. It’s a great refresher. I’m so psyched!

french for spanish

oui. 18 months ago

Back in high school, I learned this at the same time I learned German. It got a bit confusing to learn 2 languages at the same time. There were too many vocabularies, grammar rules, and pronunciation to remember. It would be nice to step back and learn this language again.

French 211 2 years ago

I am now registered in French 211 in university! I got 51% on my placement test. :)

I knew French once... 2 years ago

I too was nearly fluent, it was just a year and a half ago too!! I took French for 7 years (from grade 4 to grade 10) then I finished French and didn’t pursue the advanced French and now I’ve forgotten everything.
Fortunately, this French guy from Sears Canada keeps calling my house and speaking French so I’m forced to think in French until I ask him “Parlez anglais??” Unfortunately it is first thing in the morning or I would try to communicate with him in French.

I used to be a French Catholic schoolgirl but now I’m just an English speaking agnostic heathen. I’d like to get the French part back. It used to be my first language.
