I know this is an ongoing project, but I’d like to get to the point where everything is organized and that I just have to maintain the new stuff.
Just a few weeks ago, I had to erase completely and reinstall the software. I was able to backup everything despite the fact that I couldn’t get into my user as it was “frozen”, and I just couldn’t get in.
- sort mail > 0% advance
- sort iphoto > 25%
figure a way to improve its performance, among other things 100% I’m using separate libraries to have less items in each one- sort documents > 20%
- sort bookmarks > 50%
sort CDs > 100% I copied what I needed into my Time Capsule,and everything got put into its respective folder- sort fonts > 5% 3 years ago
This has become a larger undertaking than I originally projected. Somehow, it’s hard to believe that such a tiny iBook 12” can put up with all my disastrous accumulation of stuff. My purpose now is to break this objective into smaller goals, so I can feel a greater sense of accomplishment as I carry out the tasks:
- sort mail (which is another goal in my 43things)
- sort iphoto and figure a way to improve its performance, among other things
- sort documents
- sort bookmarks
- sort CDs
- sort fonts (another goal in 43T) 6 years ago
Well, not only did I clean and back up my mac, but I completely erased it and reinstalled all the software again.
It was displaying obvious crashing symptoms, so I took the decision to start from scratch again before it died on me and lose all my stuff! Gasp!
I feel so much better now —sigh— It’s running super smoothly :)
I still need to organize it better, so I’m not yet checking off this goal just yet… but soooo much I’ve accomplished so far :) 6 years ago
It’s taking forever. How someone can accumulate such a load of files is beyond me :S
Plus I have backups here, duplicates there, and just a bunch of unfiled and unorganized files everywhere...
