ok, so i'm no saint.. 10 months ago

i’m not claiming i’m never going to buy things that aren’t fair trade, cos let’s face it, there’s not THAT many fair trade things on the market, but i resolve to spend less money in non-fair trade places like primark, (which ties in with my goal of being less consumeristic) and more on products i know are fair trade. it’s hard with clothes, and unfortnuately i don’t like coffee, so i can’t make a difference there, but since i found out more about fair trade, i’ve decided that when in uni i will try and mainly buy their fair trade juice from now on (JP juices) rather than j20s, which i do like and will have when out, though don’t really NEED any more money, despite being also ethical. coca cola on the other hand, has been found to be a really unethical company (www.coke-justice.org) and while i can’t promise to never purchase their products again, i’ve decided to buy less and spend it on something more ethical like thiswater, which supports the wateraid charity (thiswater.co.uk)
non-food-wise, i’ve started buying more presents from the bodyshop, as they also support fair trade and do very high quality products, albeit a little expensive, but no more than a lot of other brands which simply benefit capitalist agendas. i know which i’d rather give my money too..just remember every little helps- do i really support what this company is doing, and if not, why am i still buying products from them? however, i realise my hypocrisy by the fact i haven’t vowed to give them up for good (coca-cola, primark etc), but hopefully the more aware i am of what’s going on the less and less i and many others will support them until they clean up their act..good luck to everyone w3ith this goal btw, remember YOU ARE POWERFUL TO MAKE POSITIVE CHANGE! =)
