Lessons & tips: Always give a book a chance to "wow" you - some books take longer than others to impress.
However, that being said, don't keep reading just for the sake of it: there's bound to be something better out there more worthy of your time.
Read a variety of books from different genres and authors.

I think I can easily set this goal for myself because I read books almost every day.
I will raise the bar for myself. When I read about these, I will write down the things that I am in agreement and disagreement with the author. I will also take this opportunity to share my ideas of what others can make use of the book.
Thirty is a good number for the next three months. I will choose books which are related to my dreams, to the books that am preparing to write, to the seminars that I am designing.

This is the most ambitious reading goal I’ve set to date (usually I just try to read 25). My plan of attack is to try to read 3 books per month for as long as possible to set the pace. Luckily, now that I’m taking part in 2 different book clubs, this goal will be easier because they will account for 2 books per month no matter what.

Nearly done with this challenge now and still enjoying it:
Last two reads were:
Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis
Don’t point that thing at me by Kyril Bonfiglioli
Also read a fair bit of poetry too, which has been very enjoyable.
julkat007 is not sleeping!

At least there’s one benefit to long car journeys!

Two Men in a Boat by Jerome K Jerome
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
i’m on book 26 of my goal of 30! people at work have been really great giving me suggestions and some even giving me books to read. i found goodreads.com to be a good source of suggestions too, and an easy way for me to keep track of what i’ve read.
some of the books i read are chick lit, and i’m okay with that. also, when did chick lit become the literary scarlet letter, branding readers as less intelligent? sometimes i need an escape from my life and i’m proud to say i occasionally choose to escape through books that others may consider fluff.
the books i am reading might not be the most intellectually stimulating but at least i’m taking 30 books’ worth of time for myself, rather than spending that time at work, lethargic on the couch, or hectic life. so yay for reading.

6 to go! Though I fear I’m neglecting the Bible a little, so I’ll try and redistribute my time between those two goals a little better for the next 4 months or so.
My last two reads:
Sabbath’s Theater by Philip Roth
Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf

So that makes 22. Looking hopeful that I’ll accomplish this goal.
I can now add the following to my list:
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey
Tell No One by Harlan Coben
(Guess which I was dared to read.)
And I’ve also read the plays The History Boys and Death of a Salesman and some Nietzsche
