How I did it: ..I think after one year of effort and study, I can mark this goal as done. I've still got a lot to do with Spanish, I know. But in Spanish, I made a progress that surprised me. Every language is a deep ocean and I'm very happy that I think I finally started to sail in the Spanish ocean. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I took a couple of classes in highschool - hardly enough to get past "Where is the bathroom?" How I did it: 10 months ago I said goodbye to the 9-5 world, quit my job and packed my bag. I was going to follow a lifelong dream and spend a year living in Latin America and studying Spanish.I had studied Spanish at various times in the past and had traveled in a few Spanish speaking countries, so I knew enough to travel around, but in no way considered myself a speaker of the Spanish language.I spent 6 months taking classes and the rest of the… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I studied by candlelight every night (well...lamp light) in a book. I did every exercise in the book. I made a lot of Spanish speaking friends. I started a job in the kitchen. I ordered at Mexican restaurants in Spanish. Oh yeah, and I got a lovely Mexican boyfriend. With these combined, I learned a new language, opened up many job opportunities, and made a bunch of new friends! Read how I did it…

the man i’m with is puerto rican, and while his family speaks english fluently, they often communicate in spanish. I have always loved the language and thought that it sounded beautiful. However it’s been 3 years since i spoke it, and I am no longer fluent. I want to relearn the language to be closer to my community too
