go to a great concert

I wanna hear Maddy in concert. He has such an amazing voice. Maybe I should go to Hawaii!

We are in row 11!!!

On 15th April. The day before Ashley’s birthday.

in London. It is near White City tube, and such a large building that you can’t miss it.

The main shock was that nearly all the other members of the audience were Young People, that is, under 25!!! They were not dressed to impress, they were dressed to catch a cold, the way they always do. They stood about looking moody and awkward, while we old uns tried to show them how to enjoy themselves.

We saw Razorlight, Nellie Furtado, and Jamelia, and some other bands you wouldn’t have heard of, like Amy Winehouse, but that were vrey very good. The audience was a couple of hundred strong, and it was very easy to be near the front for all the bands and get a good view. It was a really enjoyable night, the bands were great and nearly all of them had to do their track twice, and Amy Winehouse 3 times. We enjoyed some bands better the second time when we had got into their groove. Of course we had to applaud a lot, but not until one is totally tired of clapping. My applause was totoally genuine because I am genuinely impressed by great musicianship, and there was a lot of it on display, of various kinds…

So the people who never go out have had such a lively time lately that they will probably not go out for another 11 months.

Be amazed everybody. Husband and I v.v. poor, crippled by morgage and school fees. Cannot afford concert.

This year I got tickets to Radio 4 recordings in London, which is basically free entertainment – comedy.

I had a look to check who was going to be on Quote Unquote next week (we have got tickets) and I saw that you could also apply for TV shows. To my surprise there was an opportunity to be in the audience of Top of the Pops 2. So I put in our names, ages and details, thinking we wouldn’t be lucky….

BUT TODAY THE TICKETS ARRIVED! I’m v. nervous now. It says Dress to impress! what does that mean?? Whatevr it means, I haven’t got any. It says We hope you will show your appreciation of [the tickets] by putting on your dancing clothes and by wearing (and using) your dancing shoes all night!

Of course they have not seen Ashley dance, hee hee.

finally i saw death cab in the life music hall in cologne. amazing performance of the band. simply a great concert.

The Brian Wilson concert at Hampton Court was a wonderful evening – happy and beautiful
