How to go zip-lining

How I did it: My boyfriend and I went to Costa Rica and I guess one of the popular excursions there is zip-lining over the rain forest canopy. So we booked the excursion and zip-lined. It was a lot of fun. Being terrified of heights I remember praying that my cable/contraption won't snap off. But once I started I completely forgot my fear. It was really cool because I saw some howler monkeys while zip-lining. The view of the rain forest canopy was also amazing! |

How I did it: I had been looking for a place to zip line for a while so when I planned a trip to Puerto Rico, I realized this would be the perfect place. I found a company that provided a day of hiking and zip-lining in the jungles and the rest was so simple. Getting my harness on and climbing up a wooden ladder next to a big tree was probably the scariest part. Well, other than the part where you jump to your death! Aha. How I did it: We took our vacation in Mexico and signed up for a ruins tour. part of the tour was zip lining. We geared up. We just finished rapelling into a cenote. We used the same gear and were handed a wooden stick for the "brake". I started to run off when I was connected and kept stopping. I COULD NOT JUMP! So he sat me down and pushed me off the cliff! My wicked cool aunt found a place in MA that is 2 hours away that has a brand new zip line course opening 6/09. They also have white water rafting, outdoor rock climbing, and tons of ridiculous stuff that I cant wait to do. I think I might take a week off and just go chill out there for a week and conquer all the activities they have to offer!

as soon as it gets warm, I’m going. I’m thinking about NH for a weekend. I don’t even care if anyone goes with me…i just want to get away. too bad I have to wait till it’s warm.

I’m thinking about a trip to NH by myself this summer. indoor skydiving, and ziplining! sounds like fun to me!

It was awesome!!! LOVED IT!!! I went to the Aerial Park Aventure Lafleche in Val-des-Monts, QC. There were obstacle courses as well as zip lines. 2 obstacles went HARD AS HELL! The swing-like one (a piece of wood held by 2 ropes) and rings (one foot in one and the other in the other ring). I hated them!!! LOL. The obstacles of hell, as I call them. Other than that it was amazing. I’d go back in a heart beat if I could. What I’d love to do next is try zip lining while vacationing in Costa Rica or Mexico, and other places that.

In new hampshire! its a 3 hour drive, an so far everyones bitching that they are “too poor” to pay $85 to go ziplining.

A little touristy, but fun. I want to do it again, with longer and higher zips, though.
...at some point, I have to acknowledge reality. I mean, I’m not crazy about amusement park rides, I have anxiety issues sometimes, and I’ve now been in two situations where I could have done this and didn’t. I think I like the idea of this goal more than I actually want to do it—it’s something that sounds like fun, but in hindsight, I don’t think I, personally, would really find it that fun. (shrug)
I had a chance a while back to do a high ropes course that ended with a zip line, but I chickened out. I was the only one in my group that didn’t at least attempt it. I felt like a wuss. Now I have trying frantically to find a place in Georgia where I can at least ride a zip line. Maybe it will happen soon.
