Become a CFP

I can finally claim this goal complete! I am thrilled. It has been many years in the making, but well worth it.

And for great reasons. In the midst of becoming a CFP at my firm, I stepped up and began to work with the IT. After spending the last year and a half working to rebuild our system, I came to the conclusion that I am best suited for this work. I m now the Operations Manager at my company and have become an IT consultant. So, though it seems sad that I am not going to finish this goal, in the process, I found myself!

Done 5 of the courses so far, only Income Tax left before I start to study for the CFP exam.

What a terrible beast that exam was! I was so relieved to hear that I passed. Now, the hard part is over. I’m basically just waiting out the remainder of my final year of work experience and then I can FINALLY use the marks!

I finished my Tax Planning and Estate Planning courses over the summer back in August and have been studying all day every day since for the November exam. This stuff is TOUGH! I’m just over five weeks from the exam now. I just finished my first weekend of the Kaplan review course and so I have two weekends left to go. I’m hoping that this will all be worth it in the end.

Its been exactly seven weeks since I passed my cf1 and so much has happened since, I am about to pick up things again, my good old blue folder sits by my side and Im ready to get going again.

First an update on the context, first I GOT THE JOB. Im so happy that finally I get to quit that crappy temp job and actually have hopes to get as far as I possibly can with nobody holding me back. Its really motivating to have someone believe in you at a professional level. Also I got my degree and graduation coming up and I received my CII acreditation of the cf1 exam I took. Things are moving!

As I just logged in now,having forgotten my pasword I noticed the kind message from the MD at examangel.com and that put a really big smile on my face I will give the thanks where they are due, after all the site really did help me in that I wasnt as nervous and I knew what to expect..

I think that this last six months have been really hard on me, I have battled on like a warrior and I needed a little off time to “put the sword down” and get some “me” time. Not only the lack of cash has been a big factor in holding me back from achieving 100% but the “heartbreak” well that didnt make things easier. But now i feel in a better disposition to make this come true :)

I will be taking the exam in November and decided to order my study materials now so I can start on my 300 hours as soon as possible! I just received the Kaplan materials in the mail and, boy is that box large and heavy! It’s going to be a LOOONNNG summer and fall! I am so looking forward to getting through this process and learning everything.

Its Monday evening and my CF1 (Regs & Ethics) is on Friday morning, I feel ready and hyper which is normal. Scared a little. Im ready to pass and ready to put my head up and rebook it if i fail. Fingers crossed I will be booking the cf 2 by the end of the day not the cf1 !
