stardate :: 12 July 2009
waah… my excuse this time is that it’s to celebrate my promotion. but i think this weekend’s shopping is the last straw.
promises, promises…
my friend said to keep only $20 dollars a day on my wallet, and leave my cards at home. Easy for her to say that given she’s working with her cousin and can borrow cash in an instant.
what i will do is keep $50 in my wallet ($30 in case I do have an emergency i.e. need to take cab due to migraine).
and also to stop passing by the malls on the way home. this one is quite hard given that the malls are strewn all over in this side of the world.
but i will hold on to my resolve. good luck to me.

truth be told i missed the target on this one today. received some windfall and wanted to celebrate (i’ve been feeling crappy). went to orchard and saw a lot of opportunities (read: sale).
- badminton shoes – my current rubber shoes fails to support my injured ankle… was that another excuse? yeap!
- ankle support – is okay i think, given that my ankle really still hurts when i pivot.
- socks and shirt – were not needed at all
anyway, July hasn’t started yet. i haven’t touched any money that’s not for that budget. hopefully i’ll follow my plans for next month.

it would be too much to eliminate this bad habit in 1 month. So I guess I will do things step-by-step. i already have a budget plan. now all I need is to follow said budget for this month.
- must not be tempted by friends’ whims
- must not feel sorry for self
- must stop making excuses for buying stuff
- list items i want to buy, and let it sit on the list for a month or so. giving me ample time to decide whether i need it or just want it.

I have finally stopped buying things for the sake of it! I buy what I need when I need it…albeit it is still often but my room is no longer full of junk any more!

I do it waaaaayyyyyy to much. I just go in a shop, pick up things i like without really looking at the price tags, and it’s not until i get them home that i realise how much i’ve spent. I don’t need most of it, I will return some bits but not everything. I waste so much money on things i never wear/ use. And it’s not like i even have the money to be throwing away in the first place!

...Like the time I booked an impulse trip at the very last minute to Melbourne, Australia. Don’t get me wrong – it was good times, amongst the top 3 in my life so far…but I’m still living with the consequences =(
