Buying in Bulk 1 month ago

I seem to buy things in bulk because I feel like I’m saving money, but I realized in essence I’m really spending more than what I need. I bought about 7 Garnier Fructice hair products. Luckily, I was able to return 5 of them as I always keep receipts. The other 2 I exchanged for something I needed. This stuff made my hair dry and it was a mistake to buy so many. So instead I bought head & shoulder scalp care for the dandruff this Garnier stuff caused on my head. So, buy just what you need. Don’t worry about saving money in bulk because if it is $8.50 now or 5 for $7 for $35 now, you might decide you don’t like the scent or you get bored of it. Being minimalist. The other thing to remember is that stuff is always on sale. Always.

    Bought something.... 2 months ago

    But I didn’t have any more shampoo or conditioner, so I don’t consider it a failure! The shampoo and conditioner were $5.97 each and I needed a new bath poof since I left mine in Montana. ^^;

    Total Spent? $13

So far so good! 2 months ago

Of course, I haven’t had time to be tempted yet. ^^; But I have more then enough make up, hair care products, lotions, scents, etc that I shouldn’t need to buy any for the upcoming school year. I did leave a number of things back in Montana though. :x Oops! I will need to buy a new bath poof though. That doesn’t count, right? :<

    I fail 5 months ago

But I’m treating my failure as an interesting investigation into life. I’m different now. When I was away nothing mattered except happiness and being alive, the moment and the journey. I am not sure what matters now. I think it’s because I’m a gemini but I can never decide whether I’m materialistic or minimalistic. At work they call me Mary Poppins because I have so much junk in my bag (I actually had a frozen ice pack in there at an opportune moment!). They were fascinated to hear of my morning face routine – really nothing special, I even use soap on my face but the way they see me at work is so at odds with the way I often am – one woman even asked if I ever go out of the house without make up! Well this was really a ramble about nothing. Perhaps what I’m trying to say is I’m a victim of circumstance, I am perfectly fine with having nothing but when I have something, I want more.

Is this a fail? 6 months ago

Today I got a body lotiona nd two shampoos from Boots, but I technically didn’t BUY them as I used my points to pay for them…

If it’s a fail I think I managed pretty well with 4.5 months!

I am practically dying 6 months ago

of no-beauty-products-purchase syndrome! I keep torturing myself by looking at hqhair.com and going into Boots looking longingly at make up.

But I haven’t bought anything. I honestly think my supplies will last forever.

This is getting challenging 7 months ago

aarghhh so many lovely beauty products in the shops! I went to Boots after work, I so wanted Garnier firming lotion, I have wanted it for ages as it smells of lemons, and it was half price! But I have so much lotion at home… and I wanted to buy the new Loreal lip gloss balm thing which has been on tv, there is such a lovely pink called Sugar Rose. But I have a zillion lip glosses at home…

I haven’t bought anything this year! Gold star for me. :)

I haven't bought any more 8 months ago

products but I don’t feel like I can call this one done until I have used up all the random things and am left with just a “capsule” collection of essential products. This may take a while!

    Improvement 8 months ago

I have noticed that my basket is being emptied out very slowly, I still have some extras and I can never resist the good sale if I’m low on a product or the free gift for Clinique make-up, but i do try to use everything I can every day or as much as possible and that makes it worth it. The good thing about new products is that they work well as gifts for friends. Today I did buy 6 VS lotions, perfumes and shower washes because I didn’t have any shower wash, I was running out of body spray & perfume, and it was just cheaper to buy in bulk. I think for somethings its useful and maybe even necessary to have more than one. However, I’m planning to use them as emergency gifts if the need arises. The make-up I wear every day so I don’t worry about using that. I think I only have one of every hair thing, but I have multiple of make-up. I don’t open one until I finish the other because I know that once I open a make-up product it has a limited shelf life (bacterial germs and such.
