You can learn a lot about a person by listening to them talk about what they care about.
And with your intimates, you can sometimes learn as much about them by identifying what they care about, but for reasons unknown or unsaid they never, ever . . . ever talk about.
Listen for the notorious things they care about, but for reasons they will not explain, they never discuss. Sometimes the broad, obvious topics they always avoid, reveal more than what is being said.
