As you walk in to my front door, there’s a dark little entryway. The right side is blank wall and the left side there is a wall that goes up halfway, and then there are these sort of dowel-wood posts that go from there to the ceiling. It’s not structural, it’s just decorative. So I am thinking I will take out the dowels, put in a light box structure of some kind (there’s an outlet on the other side) and put my panel there.
Now I just have to measure the space and get some idea of what kind of design to do. I am thinking or liking: hearts, peacocks, some kind of heraldic thing with my family crest, a giant letter E, abstract designs. I don’t know. And then also trying to decide whether to do a traditional stained glass panel or to try a mosaic thing like I’ve seen at Trudy’s. They feature an artist that does geode slices and dalle glass and regular glass and mirror pieces, all affixed to a panel of regular clear glass and then grouted. It’s pretty cool looking too.
I’ll want to take a before and an after picture of the space & my ideas or sketches…?
A satisfying hobby on many levels, but sadly incompatible with young ones (lead poisoning is a concern for little people, in utero or not, and sharp glass shards do not mix well with toddlers). Critterati don’t fare so well either… barefoot quadrupeds (barefoot anybody actually) need to be kept out of the studio space. That said, it’s loads of fun.
